Before purchasing youbooks, I researched and decided to use it as a writing tool for a series of 10k-word mini-books I'm working on.

My expectation was not that I'd input a simple prompt and youbooks would provide a book I could upload for sale without any human editing.

At this point, I've been testing youbooks, creating four versions of the same book to see how it handles different prompts and source material. My goal was to get a package of prompt/source material that I can use for writing assistance throughout the series.
1. A fairly simple prompt and some basic source material
2. An improved prompt based on version 1, but the same source material
3. Additional prompt improvements, same source material
4. One more prompt adjustment with more comprehensive source material

A few things about the experience -
- Youbooks is a very straightforward solution with some basic onboarding for each section.
- I found the process of creating a book simple to follow with explanations for each step.
- I liked the prompt review feature that gives you feedback before you start the book creation process
- I also like the ability to add source material that can be used for the book creation process, and in my tests, a more comprehensive source material file improved the results.

The book generation process took about 6 to 10 hours, depending on the prompt and source material. There's a comprehensive timeline of the steps, and you can follow along if you wish. It was interesting to see all the steps in the process and how a book is created. Seeing this helped me understand why the process took some time to complete.

When you kick off the process, you'll get an email, and when it's complete, that email will include download links for your book. I like the variety of output formats you can get for your book.

After my testing, I think youbooks accomplished what I wanted. Could I immediately publish the book? No, but I was looking for a writing assistant to provide something I can use to create a framework, along with content I could continue to edit and youbooks accomplished this for me.

One of the things that surprised me was the different approaches youbooks takes when creating books. This worked well for me because the books presented a few different frameworks that I had not considered. The other thing I found helpful is that youbooks added ideas and content that complemented what I specified in my prompts and source material. I am able to incorporate these into my book, adding value to the content.

So I'll give youbooks 5 tacos because it did what I wanted and a bit more.
