Youbooks, where were you these last 3 years?
After using Youbooks for the last 4 months, doing all kinds of prompt tweaking, creating my own human models (my writing style), style prompts, and combining different content sources into one, my final verdict is that when comparing it with other book creation systems, I have to take my hat off and say the winner is Youbooks.
No, I am not saying it creates a perfect book that is ready to publish. I was also fooling myself (3 years ago), thinking that by pressing a button the AI would create a book with no effort. I got rid of that illusion after spending a lot of money on book apps that don’t work and only produce 20,000 to 30,000 very poorly structured words that are useless.
What I did instead was educate myself. I took classes to understand how a first draft should be made, how to go through 3 to 5 improved drafts, then edit and finally polish before publishing. This can take many months (6 to 12 months if you’re lucky and you know what you’re doing). The research for a book is what can take a lot of time, money, and effort. And this is where Youbooks shines above all the others.
You only have to choose the book topic and enter the prompt describing the style you want for your book (the more detailed the prompt, the better the output). Take your time and use any LLM to create a detailed prompt. Then you choose the Writing Style Preference: No style, style prompt, or human style (my own style). Next, choose the Book Structure Preference: more or fewer chapters, broad or narrow topics. Then choose the Desired Word Count. I usually choose between 100,000 and 150,000 words. You can go up to 300,000 words. And believe me, no other book creation system will give you 300,000 words the way Youbooks does.
Then select up to 3 content sources to reference for your book (this is optional), but if you prefer (as I do), you can choose your own texts as sources. Then move the Editing Level slider; the more you move it to the right, the better the version you will get. After that, choose Search the Internet for Additional Information (recommended). In my case, I don’t always use Expensive Models (4× price); I see very little difference. Plus, I will edit the book with my Pro accounts on Claude and Gemini. So skip Expensive Models and save your credits.
You can choose to Request TOC Approval and then edit the TOC; that helps get topics closer to the theme you chose. But be careful, this does not guarantee that the text you uploaded to Youbooks will be repurposed. Then review everything you selected, make sure you agree with it and that you are okay with paying the credits (it’s very transparent), and click create your book. You just saved yourself 4 to 6 months of research on the topic. Be patient. The system that Youbooks uses takes its time, like a well‑aged Scotch. It may take 1 or 2 days, but the wait is absolutely worth it.
The rest is about being responsible and editing to adapt the writing style so that it becomes your book through your editing. This tool is not for you if you think that by pressing one button and typing a title everything will be done; no application can do that. So if you are not willing to do the editing work in an LLM, don’t use it, but at least try it. You can request a refund if it doesn’t work for you.
I believe many people who left a bad review did so because they didn’t take the time to read the instructions and failed to follow them step by step. Or maybe they were like I used to be—thinking that pressing a button would instantly produce a perfect book. That isn´t going to happen in this universe or any other alternate universe. So don´t dream.
I already have 3 books almost ready to publish, and I have another 7 books in the oven. I am grateful to Ioannis for always being ready to listen and improve Youbooks, and also for helping you when you get stuck. He is one of the most humble people I have met on my path. I am also grateful to AppSumo for listening when I asked them to bring Youbooks in. This is the best investment I have made in years (I’ve been on AppSumo for 8 years).
I believe this tool will get better every day if Ioannis continues implementing new updates. I am more than satisfied. Take your time and talk to Ioannis. I give it 10 tacos and I highly recommend it.
