Yes, the user should obtain a YouTube API Key , but it's free and easy to make. We described the procedure in our docs: https://yt2posts.com/docs/getting_started/how-to-configure-the-plugin/.
Let us know if you have any other questions or need any help!
yes but the api is limited and i have recently gone through requesting more and its a nightmare run around. so i am correct to assume this product would be api limited also? "Projects that enable the YouTube Data API have a default quota allocation of 10,000 units per day," https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/docs/search
The default quota of 10000 that YouTube provides for free should be more than enough for average users. For this reason, YT2Posts is syncing with YouTube once per day, so that the quota is not exceeded.
But keep in mind that each time you click on "Save Changes", you are triggering the synchronization with YouTube. So, it's possible to run out of a daily quota if you are debugging something for example.
However, if you need additional quota, you can fill out the YouTube form:
https://support.google.com/youtube/contact/yt_api_form?hl=en
They are often quite generous and would approve the request if it makes sense.
From our side, we are working on additional optimizations for YT2Posts to further optimize the quota usage, so you should expect the future releases to be even more quota-friendly.
