What’s the origin of the idea for your product?

zcal was largely inspired by our own negative experiences as users on the receiving end of Calendly links. Everything about Calendly's design (or lack thereof) gives recipients the impression that their time is less important than the sender's. It's an unsettling feeling that can lead some people to abandon the booking process or decide not to show up to the meeting. As business owners, we knew this was NOT the way to kick off a customer relationship.

We knew there had to be a better way, so we created zcal to solve our own personal frustrations with the booking experience.

What problem is your product solving and how?

Let’s face it - sending someone a Calendly link is often seen as impersonal, if not outright disrespectful. As a potential customer, being asked to fill out a generic, cookie-cutter scheduling page can feel cold and transactional. Worse, the uninspired design reflects poorly on your business - suggesting a total disregard for customer experience and a poor eye for design.

It's time there was a better way to schedule - one that makes scheduling pages beautiful and on-brand. zcal does just that.

What are your plans with the customers, cash, and learnings from the AppSumo campaign?

We're planning on investing all profits from the campaign back into product development. And if things go well with this campaign, we'd love to come back for a follow up campaign later in the year.
