I was on the fence until i tried the free trial and boy the UI is superb! Clearly a lot of effort has gone into making it an amazing user experience so hats off to your design team! I have tried a few other PM tools and the experience with this is way ahead of the curve.

I do hope that a Mind Mapping tool is created soon as well as better integration with Google Docs so it doesn't open in a new window.

But I think this has huge potential and will be one of those LTD's you wish you were able to purchase if you missed out.

ActiveCollab is the most polished tool in this space on appsumo!

UI is clean and easy to use. Pro Plan features is a cherry on top.

The deal might not sound sweet for some, but this is a mature product and worth the price!

It's really awesome to see the service available on Appsumo! I've used Active Collab with studios before and I really like the tool for how simple yet powerful the tool is. It's really respected and used by some of the biggest companies in the world! If you're looking for a tool to manage projects - look no further!

One thing I would love to have as a feature is being able to control the visibility of who can see which projects. It's really a big pain point for us as we don't like showing all the projects to everyone in the organisation as there are "secret" projects going on that have signed NDA's. I see that there's a "company tool but not sure how that works in terms of this deal. Does the plan cover as many companies(departments in our case) but you're limited to that 30 user limit?

Also, the calendar UX isn't the best, it can be very messy and hard to read once you have a few projects on going .

Overall - it's a wonderful tool and I highly recommend this deal!

ActiveCollab has been on my list of tools to try for a while. Finally, I decided to just give it a try since I was still looking for a good CRM and project management system.
I can say so far: it was worth it! I love the minimalistic design and the many features it provides. The dashboard is clear and intuitive, so the learning curve is very low. I quickly found my way around and thanks to the small tutorial (you can choose to use sample projects) I was able to create my first own project shortly after. Another real plus (or additional taco): ActiveCollab is available in really many, many languages. That's just wonderful! Sure, I'm used to working with English tools, but it gives you a "safer" feeling when you can use it in your native language as well. The mobile app is also a big plus for me. It doesn't have all the features of the desktop app (also available as a program - great!) and is only available in English so far, but if I've interpreted the roadmap correctly, there will be an update soon. I'm excited to see how ActiveCollab integrates into my future workday and so far I'm really glad and happy to have found it. Thanks for the great development to the whole team and here's to a great future!

I’ve had my share of experiences with PM tools and there’s usually some kind of learning curve - some steeper than others. But I have to say, yours was the FASTEST setup ever! ... wow! 😮

It was soooo intuitive and EASY to use, I was really stunned! Feature-set is well done!
The care and thought you must have gone through, even a novice really can find their way!

I was a bit sceptical after trying out Ora, Infinity and Notion for project management, and none of these tools suited my workflow or style of management - but I have to say...I'm thoroughly impressed! So intuitive and easy to use. Its evident that a whole lot of thought and time has been put into the UX and the interface. Its clean and uncluttered. I love the dark mode in your themes options. You deserve 5 stars and more...however I would love to make a request - can you please activate the Xero/Quickbooks integrations and time estimation features to this deal as these are so useful and I was hoping to squick my invoicing over to one of those solutions!! Please?

I reviewed Active Collab many years ago, in 2007 if I'm correct. It was a decent PM tool, but we opted for Teamworks Project which we have been using ever since in my company. Teamwork is a professional, efficient and very capable system and we have years of multiple project history with it with tons of documents, comments, etc. and hundreds of users. I have a grandfathered account with unrestricted users, and even with that Teamwork is not cheap.

I have also worked with almost every PM system you can think of, from Asana to Wrike and Zoho Projects and whatnot. I have written articles about PM for international magazines. So, I'm a bit of an expert in the field.

The reason I mention Teamwork is because ActiveCollab is very similar in terms of how it's organized. You get projects, in each project there's a task list, in each task list you have tasks that can host subtasks. Each task or subtask can be linked to a parent or child task, and each task can be commented as many times as needed by team members. Using labels and task lists it's very easy to always get a clear view about each project.

You also have Notes, which help you structure chunks of information, and time tracking if you don't forget to activate or deactivate it. The way this is structured is very clear and very easy to use. From my experience with Teamwork which has a very similar structure, 100% of clients and 100% of team members will use the system easily without needing any onboarding. In my view, Active Collab is far superior to the other PM tools that have been on sale on AppSumo, that are very limited.

As a PM manager the features that are lacking in this offer are : a gantt system (the timeline is good but not good enough), time estimates per tasks, risk estimates per task, advanced notifications and privacy settings for tasks among other things. But if you don't need those, Active Collab is perfectly capable and for that price it's a good opportunity. User seats are expensive in the PM world!

I'm getting this to organize my own workflow, and I won't invite anyone to my projects, so the way I see it is a To Do list on steroids. By using the projects/task lists/labels I can organize myself very well. This will limit my information overload and help me focus.

The tool is great and the UX is beautifu.
However, the user number should really be expanded. Tier 3 only have 30 users. That's not enough.

The challenge I have had is finding a project management tool that is simple enough for my clients to use and Active Collab fits that bill perfectly.

I know that other PM tools have more in the way of features than Active Collab but for me, I just need something that my clients can use and Active Collab has everything I need as well.

Add this to the fact that they are a well-established business in this arena and I think this deal is a winner.

3 years ago when I was using active collab for my main pm tool, I would have jumped straight away at this deal. A pm tool that was easy to use and a pleasure to work in. It's had a facelift since then and personally, I think the ui is decent and flows well.

I am guessing that they are working on the basis that if it works, don't change too much as it really has not changed a lot since then. Small features added, yes, and kanban boards.

The main issue for me is that PM tools have changed. They now offer much more for your money, with many new features to help improve your project management. Any new app coming out now wouldn't be seen without custom fields and some kind of workflow automation.

Yet active collab went the other way and took out custom fields. With no sign, they will be adding them back anytime soon and with no plans to work on any kind of automation.

If those are not important to you, then this is a great deal. Active collab has been around a long time and is your dependable, easy-to-use option. It is not comparable to asana, ClickUp, etc, but it is an alternative if you do not need all the features and options in those. A good alternative to basecamp is a better description.

I bought the deal as soon as I saw it on appsumo, it is well worth looking at if you do not yet have a pm tool and have been looking around. I think I have just moved on and now need more features.

I want to give it 3,5 stars. The functionality is great, but the design needs a UX designer. They use a lot the same colour and doesn't use icons enough which makes it tough to find certain elements I'm looking for.
Their add-ons section is a huge bonus and makes it easy to change from other project management tools to ActiveCollab.

This looked like a great deal. One of the best project management UI/UX I've seen on Appsumo.

I got tier 1 to give it a try but there are no custom fields.
Without that it's limiting to build effective projects.

One must is the ability to estimate how long a task or subtask is going to take. This is only possible in their pro plan. Here's their response.

If you are looking for a great tool to manage your projects and don't need much customization or add additional info to the task then def give this a try.

For the project planning geeks, this LTD is not functional enough...

I am going to preface this by saying that anyone who knows me knows I love Ora and Nifty. They're extremely powerful, feature rich tools that offer a ton of power to the user...the only downside is that some, or many, may feel too overwhelmed by their interfaces and offerings.

ActivCollab is the (next) best thing for users who feel that way.

The UI is amazingly modern and polished with an extremely intuitive UX to play the supporting role (Hint: Nearly everything you want is in settings, such as adding new categories for billable hours - love their time tracking).

Adding task lists and tasks are a total breeze (though there's a lack of automation - something found in Ora for example). Easily assign team members, upload or import files from GDrive or Dropbox, and all of the usual suspects you find in PM tools. You can create multiple Discussion threads under one project too, which is nice. One for your creative team, one for your marketing team, etc.

There are multiple themes to choose from (I chose Neon) and some other fun features too.

But ActivCollab ticks all the boxes and is a great solution for those struggling to find the "perfect" project management tool. Simple, yet powerful. No fluff, no frills, no distractions - it just works and works well.
