Q: When are you getting tags?
I make funnels and purchased your software a few years ago when I saw how great your integrations were with Pabbly and Zapier etc but I have not been able to use it because of the lack of tags. The segment functionality seems to only record events that occur within Acumbamail. For this to be useful, I need to be able to record and initiate events that have happened outside of Acumbamail.

As you said, Acumbamail is based on lists and segments. We are still evaluating the "tags" concept to check if this could be a good complement that could boost our list management.
However, I would like to clarify that you can create one or more list fields to store something similar to tag values associated with your subscribers. These tag values can be updated by making use of our available integrations. For example, if an event happens in a third system, you can call an Acumbamail incoming webhook URL which updates your subscriber tag field value.
Later you can create segments based on the value of this tag field, and this way you can target specific tagged subscribers with a specific campaign.

geminisummeryPLUSAdding a tag is also a trigger right now in my sequences. So the external event happens, a tag is added to the contact which triggers a sequence of steps. How would updating a custom field trigger a sequence of steps in Acumbamail?

In fact, for new subscribers, you can set up an automation with an "Until" node.
There, you can create a rule to check if a subscriber field contains a specific value (identifying the value of a specific tag).
