In early 2025 my content site, WPFresher, had gone three months without a post. Not because I'd run out of ideas — I had a spreadsheet of about forty keywords sitting right there. The traffic I'd spent a year building started sliding, and I watched it happen in Search Console without being able to do anything about it. So I did what most people do: I tried the AI writing tools. They all worked, and none of them helped. Each one handed me a draft in its own dashboard, and I was still the one pasting it into WordPress, fixing the headings, hunting for an image, typing the meta description into Rank Math, and hitting publish. Twenty minutes a post that nobody was counting. The writing had never been the bottleneck. The publishing was. After eight years building WordPress plugins — including leading WooCommerce plugin development at PluginEver — I knew that gap was closable. Not with a better prompt, but with a pipeline: something that lived inside WordPress and ran the whole sequence, from picking a topic to writing the SEO data into the fields Yoast and Rank Math actually read. That became AI Content Writer. I put it on WordPress.org in January 2025 and have shipped over twenty releases since, most of them driven by what people asked for in the support forum. Autopilot exists because customers kept asking whether it could write from their existing site instead of a keyword list. The SEO score gate exists because I didn't want thin articles publishing themselves on my own blog. I still run it on WPFresher. That's the real test, and it's the reason the review queue and draft-first publishing were in the first version — I wasn't willing to point something at my own site that I couldn't stop.
