UK Consumer Law for Digital Goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, UK consumers have the right to a refund, repair, or replacement if digital content is faulty or not as described.
There is also a 14-day cooling-off period under UK law for digital goods bought online, which allows cancellation for any reason if the product has not been downloaded or used, though exceptions exist for certain products.
For cross-border (US-to-UK) purchases, if the seller (AppSumo) markets to UK consumers, UK law can apply, especially if the site targets UK customers or provides prices in GBP/English.
Please tell me how this does not apply to AppSumo?

This law doesn't apply to limited-time deals, where it's clearly stated in the terms of the deal that there is no refund. This is exactly how a lot of dodgy companies get away with fleecing potential customers. NB, Not calling AppSumo dodgy, their support is some of the best!
