Impressive suite of tools to fit various needs

I am trying out a number of ai writing tools. With aiwritebook I initially experimented with the visual books feature with limited success at best, the text never looked right on pages and I could not get a two-page spread of single connected image to work. Two visual book attempts were a bust for me.

HOWEVER once I dove into the main fiction writing suite, I completely fell in love. The chapter writing flow, along with the in-depth editing suggestions, book audits, and proofreading processes, are fantastic.

The flexibility here is a huge highlight. Being able to upload previously written drafts, write across a series, and jump in to manually write wherever you want throughout the process gives you total creative freedom.

My only real gripe is having to complete the metadata and publish steps such as book cover before being allowed to export—I would much prefer the option to export my manuscript chapters at any time. Aside from that, features like the audiobook and translation options and the many standalone research and writing ideaition tools are a great added value.

Thank you for separating the two experiences instead of averaging them into one score.

On the export gate you are right, and it is a real restriction rather than a misunderstanding. The Export step stays locked until the book has a cover, and the cover is produced on the Metadata step, so there is no way today to pull your chapters out mid-draft. The reasoning was that most people export in order to publish, and that reasoning does not hold for someone who just wants the manuscript. Please put it on the public roadmap at https://aiwritebook.com/app/public-roadmap, which is where we take priorities from. A plain manuscript export with no publishing prerequisites is a clean thing to vote on.

On visual books, the two-page spread mode does exist: it is set on the basics step, and picture books default to spread while coloring books and comics are single page. A single connected image running across both halves of a spread is the part we do not do well yet, and the text problems you hit are the canvas editor, where text sits as a layer you can move and resize but does not flow around the art the way a picture book needs. Two failed attempts is a fair verdict on it, and the fiction suite is where the work has gone.

I hope it helps!
