The workflow is the key feature
I was immediately drawn to AIWriteBook because of the dashboard. I came across it a while ago, signed up for the free tier right away and started exploring and ended up buying tier 2 and then upgrading to tier 3 to get the BYOK feature.
There is something about a great UI combined with a well thought-out workflow that makes you do things in the right order without really thinking about it.
What I liked then is still what I like most about it now: it doesn't feel like someone simply wrapped an AI model in a text box and called it a book writer.
Editing and re-editing chapters is also where I think most AI book writers fall short. Generating the first draft is not what I call writing the book. The hard part comes when you read the chapter and think... this section needs to change, this part doesn't sound like me, or I want to take this in a different direction. This is where the book writing happens.
AIWriteBook gets this part right. You can keep working on the chapter, make changes through the editor, regenerate weaker sections and continue refining the book instead of starting over every time.
The rest of the workflow follows the same idea. You can work through the outline, characters, writing style, individual chapters and eventually take the book through to cover and export.
Writing an entire book can feel like a huge project. Breaking it into a series of smaller steps makes it suddenly feel a lot more doable.
Spend a little time inside it and you start thinking... who doesn't want to write a book?

The point about the first draft not being the book is the whole reason the product looks the way it does. Generating text is easy now. Reading a chapter, deciding a section is off, and changing just that without blowing up the rest is the part nobody wants to build, and it is where the writing actually happens.
You landed on the right tier for how you work. BYOK runs on Tier 3 and Tier 4, and with your OpenRouter key connected you can also draft chapters with models outside our built-in list, which matters more when you are re-editing a lot.
