Misleading Deal: Limited Functionality Without Costly Upgrade

As a frequent shopper on AppSumo, I’ve come to expect great deals on software that can truly make a difference in my workflow. This time, however, my experience with Attribuly purchased via AppSumo was far from satisfying, prompting me to share this honest review to assist others in making informed decisions.

First Impressions and Broken Promises

Right off the bat, after initiating the onboarding process with Attribuly, it became clear that many advertised features were absent. Despite prior reassurances in the Q&A section on AppSumo's website, where potential buyers (myself included) were led to believe all features were included, the reality was starkly different. This initial excitement turned to disappointment when I learned these key features were locked behind a Pro Plan, priced steeply at $249 per month.

Customer Support Experience

Seeking clarity, I contacted Attribuly’s support team only to receive conflicting messages. Initially, I was told that the missing features would be unlocked soon, attributing the issue to a problem with AppSumo codes—a statement that turned out to be misleading. Subsequent communications revealed that to access the necessary features, an upgrade to the Pro Plan was mandatory. To add insult to injury, the interaction with the customer service team was unsettling; a representative, upon explaining the situation, actually laughed and remarked "We will delete these incorrect comments 😂"

Pricing Transparency and Actual Value

What was marketed as a comprehensive tool on AppSumo is, in reality, a very basic version that needs additional costly upgrades to be genuinely useful. Although a lifetime discount of 20% was offered for the upgrade, the deal still requires a significant ongoing financial commitment, which defeats the purpose of securing what was marketed as a cost-effective one-time purchase.

Overall Assessment

The marketing of Attribuly on AppSumo appears to be a strategic move to funnel users towards expensive monthly subscriptions. The deal page, sparse in detail about the Plans & Features, should have been a red flag about the limited utility of the software without further investment.

In Conclusion

While Attribuly may have the potential to be a robust tool, the approach taken in its promotion and the subsequent handling of customer expectations have been highly disappointing. This experience serves as a reminder that not all deals are as good as they may seem, especially when critical functionality is gated behind high additional payments.

So let's be clear about our offering.
1. The AppSumo lifetime deal is our Starter plan. Which is suitable for most Shopify entrepreneurs running on Basic Shopify and Shopify plans.

2. The Attribuly Pro plan is for small and medium businesses running on Advanced Shopify and Shopify plus, which is not included in this deal. But we offer an exclusive discount for AppSumo community.

As an early startup, we are running different experiments on the value we offer and the money we get. We didn't manage properly, I'm sorry we have caused a poor experience for you, jsoutherland.

We are talking to AppSumo now to unify our offering. I hope this deal still works for your current stage.
