Q: Is there a way to make it track the path I take and sync?

Hi Toby,
I’m interested in using AvoMap to track the route I take — whether walking, driving or cycling — and ideally to do this via the web app (since I understand there’s no mobile app planned). Is that possible?

If not directly through AvoMap, are there any third-party tools (like iPhone apps or Garmin devices) that could record my path and then sync with AvoMap?

For example, if I walked down Buckingham Palace Road, stopped for 10 minutes to take photos, then continued on — is there a way to log that journey and attach the photos at specific GPS points along the route? It does not need to be in real time.
Thank you.

A: Hey Sye,

You're absolutely right — AvoMap is currently just a web-based editor for creating or editing tracks. It doesn’t track your movements in real-time.

For recording your actual route, there are plenty of great third-party tools out there. If you're walking, cycling, or driving, I recommend trying apps like Strava, Komoot, or AllTrails — they’re reliable and can export your journey as a GPX or KML file.

Once you’ve recorded your route, you can easily upload that file into AvoMap and turn it into a video.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the quick response, Toby. I found the solution why via searching. I already own the Garmin Fenix 7, so I should be able to do it via that according to ChatGPT.
