It hurts my soul to say something could be better than Loom. I've been an avid Loom user since being part of its beta program waaaaay back, and it's been incredibly useful for my business. The owner is cool, too.
But, BerryCast could indeed become better than Loom. It's a lovely piece of kit.

PRO's
The UI is better, cleaner.
I REALLY like the groovy little draggable floating widget. I'm happy to have this on my screen all day. That said, it would be nice to be able to customize. BerryCast Purple is nicer than BerryCast green.
Onboarding was interesting and easy.
The screen area selection tool is very cool.

CON's
I don't think the recording quality is as good as Loom. I'm running a 4k screen, but the recording looked to be 1080p, maybe less. Maybe it's a bitrate thing instead?

Yet to see:
Loom is still ahead in a few areas; Their business plan offers 4k recording, CTAs, logo watermarks, DND, GIF thumbnails, and a few video editing tools.

The few areas that would be important to me to see improvement in would be the video resolution, CNAME (you could whip Loom's ass with this... Game changer.) and the ability to add blurring to some areas of video. Watermark branding would be a really cool feature to see in the interim.

I'm also a little concerned about the viability of the project in the long-term. Loom limits its recording length to 5 minutes for free users. I understand there's a limitation of 10 videos per month with BerryCast's free plan, but I'd wager length of recording is a bigger draw to buying premium. Otherwise, BerryCast free users can just create a few dummy accounts and essentially have unlimited monthly recordings.

Finally, is there a public roadmap?

Overall I think BerryCast is fantastic, and I have a good feeling the owners intend to take the project further. I'm sold on its floating widget, and will probably make this my daily screencasting driver.
