Easy screen capturing with rapid encoding
We used Cloudapp so far for recording and sharing videos with clients. As an Office365 customer, you can also use Microsoft Stream to directly screen record - but you can't share it with guests inside your tenant. Berrycast is a good alternative for that:
a) it integrates on the desktop and has very good hotkey controls already
b) I can see the teams integration to be very valuable, because it solves the MS Streams issue that you can'T share video in a team with guests. Ideally it is well built so that it automatically has view permissions granted for all authenticated users (and guests) on the team(s) that a video is shared to.
c) the encoder is ridiculously fast compared to Cloudapp. I have waited 10minutes+ for longer videos with cloudapp that Berrycast encoded in around a minute. Also the sharing is well implemented with the URL being generated before the upload is complete.
There also downsides:
a) the user management is not well implemented. There don't seem to be clear user roles and it is not clear to me, if someone that I invite can invite anyone, etc
b) it's unclear to me how videos are shared with users in the same "tenant" of berrycast. I currently assume that everyone just sees their own videos by default - but let's wait for the teams integration to judge on that.
c) There should be a way to bulk add users. We bought the unlimited users level - and I would like to simply import my colleagues in bulk
d) There isn't yet a bulk installer that I can rollout in the company (i.e. a MSI file that can be deployed through inTune, there is no guidance on how to actually deploy it in a larger team (support simply doesn't respond to this question)
e) The berrycast branding is a bit overwhelming, it would be nice to have a password protected sharing page with our company colors and logo tied to a subdomain.
So: A very good and fairly priced tool for solo or small teams - but to actually make use of the unlimited users approach, it still feels a bit clunky. Great value for money nonetheless.

May 9, 2024Hi!
Thanks a lot for your long feedback. It's really appreciate.
We already have the chance to talk into the support ;)
a) I take not of that. What would you change about the user management? A more clear role, that's it?
b) Every user has is own folders and "space". Nothing is share.
c) Yes, we talk about that in support. It's a good idea and I add it to the user voice.
d) We already talk about that directly =)
e) The whitelabel is coming, stay stuned for that!
I wish you a happy christmas!
