Great video quality but there are issues
I use screen and webcam recording apps like this for:
- Recording longer clips with educational content for webinars
- Creating short clips to send to external users, e.g. support tickets, how-tos, showing something to a client
I use Loom (paid plan) and Nimbus Capture at the moment and thought this might be a good replacement for both of those. you know, one screen capture app to rule them all. The 3 tacos are because it turns out that it's not at the moment a viable replacement, and my experience with support so far was not great.
The issues are:
- Video share page has an Ad/button to sign up for Berrycast for free. This is not a good look when sending stuff to clients, kinda makes it looks like I am using a free platform and it gives off 'cheapo' vibes, as in it makes me look cheap. Which I am, but I don't want to advertise it.
- It does not work with my webcam that I use on my desktop, which a bog-standard consumer grade Logitech webcam like many of you will also be using.
Here is the response I had from Berrycast support:
"I'm sorry about this issue but the development team did not find anything to solve your issue.
You are the only person that has this issue and we are not exactly sure on how to fix it, I'm sorry."
So, if you experience an issue that only you are complaining about, then sorry, they are not going to fix it. I was very tempted to hit the 1 taco rating just because of this cause it wound me up. But in the spirit of AppSumo guidelines to not leave scathing reviews just based on launch-time support experience, I refrained from doing that.
It could be that my computer and whole setup is a mess (out of date webcam drivers etc.) and of course Berrycast cannot sort out everyones PC issues when their webcam does not work. But my webcam works fine in general and with all the other screen capture apps I use, and my computer is actually not a mess, it is a finely tuned machine and I checked every eventuality to ensure I am not wasting support's time before writing to them.
I will probably not refund the deal however, for the following reasons:
- Great video quality
- User friendly experience with the recording interface and options (webcam issues aside)
As such it will find it's use as one more tool in my arsenal. Just not what I had hoped for to replace the others.

We will do whitelabel features to address your first concern.
For the second one, I was not aware about your camera issue. I just check the support conversation related to that, I will contact you directly on it.
And yes, I totally understand your frustration, the word was not really carefully choose to explains the situation.
Currently, we all have a huge amount of work (like everyone), and appsumo bring to us a very big load of support message. It's complicate right now to focus on what is important because everything is urgent.
So unfortunately, we focus on issue that have more reach to give the most value possible at everyone.
We, of course, plan to fix all bugs. It's important for us to be the more bug free possible, but for now, we need to focus our effort.

And we are thankfull to the app sumo comminuty to bring us all theses messages! It's really valuable for us to have all your feedback, insight, and bugs reports.
So, don't worry about our load, go head and continue! But we might be overwhelmed and we can't deal with it all quickly.
