Platform shutting down after acquisition, lifetime access not honoured
I purchased Bestever’s highest tier through AppSumo because the product was sold as a lifetime deal. Unfortunately, the platform has now announced that it was acquired by Samba and will be permanently shut down on August 31, 2026.
My rating reflects the product experience as a whole. Since launch, there have been very few meaningful updates, limited feature development, and inadequate ongoing support. The shutdown announcement confirms that customers will soon lose access entirely, despite having paid for lifetime use.
Bestever has instructed users to export their videos, projects, reports, and insights before the closure date. However, no equivalent migration path, replacement account, or compensation has been confirmed.
I am asking AppSumo and the Bestever team to provide one of the following resolutions:
A full refund of the amount paid for the lifetime deal; or
Access to the acquiring company’s new or replacement platform with the same tier limits, features, usage rights, storage, export capabilities, and commercial functionality included in my original Bestever purchase—provided the new tool is materially the same or the direct successor to Bestever.
Access to an unrelated free-tier alternative is not an equivalent replacement for a paid top-tier lifetime deal.
This is especially concerning because I have experienced a similar outcome with another AppSumo product. AppSumo should review how lifetime-deal customers are protected when a partner is acquired, abandons development, or closes the product.
Until a fair resolution is provided, I cannot recommend Bestever or consider the lifetime deal to have been fulfilled.
