Let's see what the future brings
I am writing this review for the current state of the product. In the future, I hope some of the promised features will be added. Then I will come back to this review and—hopefully—change it to 5 tacos.
This PMS looks solid and intuitive (some other PMS are kinda overcrowded with features), and the AppSumo deal has generous limits on the different plans.
There is a lot of room for improvement, and the founder is active among the community. The upcoming features on the roadmap look very good. The documentation is great, and you get a lot of 'high-end' features in this deal—such as API, Webhooks, etc.
BUT: In its current state, it's almost unusable for me because a lot of minor features are missing (most of them are mentioned in the roadmap—let's see how long this will take and if promised features are coming).
Language support: While there are multiple languages available, it's done very poorly. Nearly 30% of the software isn't translated at all, so in this state, I will not invite clients. (Happy to help with German btw)
Poor UI: They are currently in the process of changing the UI, but right now it looks kinda old, and I would like to be able to customize it more (hide stuff I don't need in a project).
A lot of minor things bug me that would be too many to list, but things feel 'unfinished' on many ends. For example, I can't add a doc I created into a card I have on my kanban-style board.
In my use case, I want to add clients to their project (show them tasks they have to perform—therefore, I would like to link a doc to give them a step-by-step guide—or embed a video, etc.).
Furthermore, I would like to show them certain tasks we are working on to give them a feeling of reassurance but also hide everything that they don't need to see.
Also, while testing with my 'client account,' I got an email from Blue with the latest update they have done. My clients that I invite to a project should not get any emails from Blue at all—this is very confusing as they are in English and are obviously from another company.
So all in all, I know that this review sounds like whining about a lot of stuff, but due to the described issues and a few more minor things, I am unable to use this PMS with my clients.
I will stick around and watch the improvements made to the software because I see great potential. Keep up the good work—I'm looking forward to starting using Blue with my clients and coming back to this review as soon as I can use Blue for my use case.
