I am very interested in this but I may have a bit of a unique use case.
I'm an instructional designer and graphic designer. I create graphic design tutorials, do live demos, and sell designs. Mostly, I am involved with authors and design book covers for them.
Tied into this business are a number of free book clubs that I run through Facebook groups. These groups have thousands of members and are quite active. We have readers interacting with authors, events, giveaways, books of the month, book recommendations, reviews, parties, etc. So, lots of stuff going on.
We've been wanting to create our own community off of Facebook for some time and this seems like it could really suit our needs, but I want to make sure that we're able to do certain things first.
1. Is it possible to create a completely free membership site? I want people to join and have to log in, but I don't necessarily want to charge all of them. I am thinking more of having a pay wall for premium content but lots of free content for others. Is that possible?
2. Are there any sort of event capabilities where lots of people can be in the same "room" at the same time? If so, can we designate hosts and allow people to stream video or would it all be text based?
3. Is it possible to have a community type environment where people can post threads and get responses?
4. Is there a way to create wiki type pages for a knowledge base?
5. Is it possible to integrate any sort of learning platform? Have you considered something like that down the line for those of us who want to sell our expertise via online courses? I'd particularly be interested in integration with Classtra or Gurucan as those are both previous AppSumo deals.

--- Yes, it can easily be setup so all members sign up for free. The "Members Only Content" (allows you to designate content that is only visible for members logged in to an account) and the "Sell Digital Downloads" (allows you as an Admin member to post content that a member must pay to view or receive as an email) Add-Ons are included with all AppSumo deals.
2. Are there any sort of event capabilities where lots of people can be in the same "room" at the same time? If so, can we designate hosts and allow people to stream video or would it all be text based?
--- It sounds like you may want to setup a Discord server for your community or something along those lines. There are many existing applications that specialize in exactly this, but this is not one of the native features of Brilliant Directories.
3. Is it possible to have a community type environment where people can post threads and get responses?
--- I would recommend using the "Discussions" Post Type to allow members to make a post and others to comment and continue the discussion, all using native Brilliant Directories features.
4. Is there a way to create wiki type pages for a knowledge base?
--- Like the "room" functionality mentioned above, this is not native functionality of the directory software, there are several applications that specialize in this functionality that you could use for that purpose.

--- We do not currently have a native integration with a 3rd party learning management platform, but we do currently have a Zapier integration on our roadmap that may assist with that down the line.
