Q: Import

We already have a membership base with different levels, notes, history, payment setup and a wealth of content both public and for members use only, how easy would it be to import all the different types of information? (this is a WordPress site)

We also have different directories within the site ie one for therapist and one for schools can we have these on different pages on BD? We also have a directory for CPD events which I guess would guess be best done through events listings. I guess I asking how flexible is BD for listings.

A: Thanks for sharing details about your situation! 😊

It sounds like you have a well-established and seasoned site with a lot of potential Google SEO value. Switching platforms to BD, or any other platform, comes with some risks—especially if you don’t take a careful, white-glove approach to the migration. Proper handling of things like URL redirects is crucial to avoid a significant drop in traffic in the short term.

I would never want to steer you in the wrong direction. For seasoned sites like yours, sometimes the risk of switching platforms might outweigh the benefits, at least initially. That being said, if you can export all your existing data into CSV files (members, blogs, posts, etc.), importing that information into Brilliant Directories is very possible.

A thoughtful approach might be to keep your current site running as is while launching a new site on Brilliant Directories alongside it. This way, you can slowly and carefully transition content and features over time, minimizing the potential risks to your SEO and audience.

I hope this helps you make the best decision for your unique situation. If you have any more questions, I’m here to help! 👍

Thank you for your response. Can you suggest a service that would support us in a white glove approach to migration? You are right, we have good SEO and don't want to lose it.

Check in the BD Marketplace. There’s some good people in there.
