Q: Listings and members...
Sorry, I can't find the answer through the search field. Maybe I'm looking for the wrong terms.
I purchased the level five, and one of my sites will be fairly large. And could easily grow to 200,000 paid entries.
Can you please explain what makes a member and what happens if we exceed the member allowance?
Secondly, what is a listing and what happens if we need more than what is allowed?
Thank you very much. I look forward to using your software!

Jun 10, 2026A: Thanks for your question and congratulations on picking up Level 5! 😊
Here’s the simple breakdown:
👤 What is a Member?
A member is any registered account on your site. This includes users who have:
* A username and email address
* Login access
* A profile/listing page
It does not include website visitors or newsletter subscribers who don’t have accounts.
📇 What is a Listing?
A listing is a profile, record, or directory entry displayed on your site. In many directories, a member and a listing are often the same thing, but they don’t have to be.
For example:
* 1 doctor account = 1 member
* 1 doctor profile = 1 listing
📈 What happens if I exceed the limits?
No worries. BD is designed to scale as your directory grows. If you approach or exceed your included limits, you can increase them at any time with optional limit upgrades.

One quick note: if you’re projecting 200,000+ paid entries, that’s an amazing problem to have and puts you into a very successful, enterprise-scale category.

I am currently tempted to buy another level 5 license. Would it be possible to use multiple site licenses for one directory to increase the number of members and listing allowance?

Thanks for your question. Generally the system can’t merge baseline account limits between accounts. But to help make things easy, we’d be happy to accommodate this for you with a one-time courtesy. Reach out to our team when you need to do this: [email protected]

Thank you for the generous offer, much appreciated!
To clarify, your smart AI agent on the website tells me that members and listings are essentially the same. But they are listed with different allowance in the pricing.
The fees for additional members are fair, but would that automatically include the same number of listings or is that another add-on?
Thank you!

Listings and members are the same.
This includes users who have:
* A username and email address to login as a member to your site
* A profile/listing of a business/member
For example, If you import 100k businesses, those count towards the member limit. And if 100k people sign up as members on your site, those count as members.
Visitors and newsletter subscribers do not count as members.

Oh, it says "instant listings" — those are the automated starter listings?
So otherwise - number of members = number of listings?

Good question. “Instant business records” is the tool BD has that finds real businesses that you can populate your site with so the site appears established from day one. These also count towards the total member limit and is an optional tool.
