Q: Why the limit on transactional emails?
First of all, congratulations with your AppSumo campaign. As many others have already pointed out, your product looks very promising, but also comes with a very high price label compared to most other AppSumo deals.
I see that others have asked for "unlimited contacts", but I completely understand that you can't make a sustainable business case out of that.
In my case, the showstopper is the "api email credits". I really don't understand the concept of those. I completely understand if you want to restrict some features (eg. transactional emails) to be available only to customers that pay more, but why limit the number of transactional emails for those who have access to it? This seems very odd, when there are no limitations on emails sent through the web interface. I expect your cost per email to be exactly the same. What am I missing?
Imagine a deal site (like Groupon) with 75.000 subscribers. They would likely send out at least 1 million emails per month, which they could do within the Limits of Tier 5.
Then imagine a SaaS platform with 15.000 paying subscribers. They don't send a lot of newsletters, but they send a monthly payment confirmation to each subscriber and probably a few other transactional emails.

The SaaS platform wouldn't be able to make use of your offer, even though they are sending out far less emails per month.

You make complete sense. Our tiers were definitely geared more towards non-SaaS companies and was an oversight on our part. We've learned a lot from our first AppSumo deal. If we do another deal in the future, we will make sure their are tiers more geared towards SaaS companies as well with increased transactional credit limits. Lessons learned for sure!

I do believe that if you are serious about adjusting the tiers, then it can be done. I have seen so many AppSumo deals being adjusted after launch, when product owners, like yourself, realize that the initial tiers were not well aligned with the community's expectations.
If I were you, I would definitely talk to my AppSumo contact about what options you have :)
Please grandfather original backers into these new benefits. :)

I hope you could talk to AppSumo and adjust the tiers (contact numbers, api email credits thru out T1-T5 needs alot of boost).

We hear you and are actively working on some LTD offerings within Tarvent for AppSumo customers to entend their limits. Give us about a week and you'll be able to extend the current limits as needed.
