Strong value, but the setup UX needs refinement

I’m giving Charla 4 tacos because the core offer has real value. The unlimited chat and website options make it attractive, especially for businesses that want to build customer-facing AI chat, lead capture, and support flows without quickly hitting usage limits.

The planned Comment-to-DM automation is also a strong reason I see potential in the product. For brands using Instagram, Messenger, and website chat together, that could become a useful conversion layer.

That said, the product still needs improvement. The setup experience feels fragmented, with many separate areas such as Widget, Chatbot, AI Chatflows, Chat Flows, Groups, Notifications, Routing, and Integrations. These are powerful features, but they feel like loose parts that the user has to connect manually rather than one guided setup journey.

I also experienced some reliability issues during setup, including needing to refresh the browser, settings not always appearing to save clearly, save errors, and being logged out unexpectedly. For a tool that handles lead capture and customer conversations, this needs to be more stable and predictable.

Overall, I think Charla has strong potential and the lifetime deal is appealing. The feature set is promising, especially with unlimited options and planned social automation. But the product would benefit from a clearer onboarding flow, stronger setup guidance, better naming between Chatbot / Chat Flows / AI Chatflows, and more reliable saving behaviour.

Unfinished Product

No me gusta dejar reviews negativas en ningún lugar para ningún producto o servicio (intento pensar que detrás de cada cosa hay personas que intentan hacerlo lo mejor posible), pero me he desesperado muchísimo con la configuración de la herramienta y luego con el chat de soporte. Ninguna de las dos cosas funciona bien.

Si el chat de soporte propio de la herramienta no funciona bien, no tengo absolutamente ninguna esperanza de que el mío funcione mejor. Me da mucha lástima, pero lo voy a tener que dar de baja, ya que a día de hoy, la herramienta no funciona correctamente, y no tiene visos de que vaya a mejorar en un futuro próximo...

Great support

I get that nothing is perfect in an app, but as long as support is good and responsive then I'm very happy with it. Support has been great so far, helped me fix a small issue I had. And the deal itself is awesome if you're wanting to add chat support for multiple businesses/projects that you own since you can have a separate chat widget and knowledgebase for each of your websites.

Failing to train and emails go to spam

I really want to like the application, it has a lot of promise but I’m having some issues. I pointed it to my documentation site, and then had to manually add pages. For some reason we can’t feed it a site map or a list of pages, it’s very manual and tedious. So instead of adding all 73 pages to train, I added my top 10 pages. All 10 failed to get the data on the site.

Next major issue is that they don’t support DKIM for their email. We have to connect it to our email with SNMP. I asked about the DKIM and I was pointed to a feature request page where DKIM has been open for two years. You would think that if your support tickets are going to spam because of DKIM, it would be a priority fix to make sure customers of their customers are not struggling with spam issues.

I like the product and I hope they really fix the issues. Also one more annoying thing, I went back and forth with support about the DKIM and they closed my ticket each time, every time I responded I got a new ticket email instead of continuing my ticket issue.

Hello Zerker, Yes training using entire sitemaps and DKIM are on our backlog. For DKIM the current workaround is to use your SMTP settings and Charla allows that integration. If you faced issues capturing the site information, please ping us at [email protected] and we will look into it, probably something with the url structure that was added.
