I've spent 20 years in sales and marketing leadership, in-house and agency side. The last 10 have been SEO, and the last 7 have been at Webfor, running digital strategy, SEO and paid media for real clients. Somewhere in the last couple of years the ground shifted. I'd get a client to #1 on Google, do the victory lap, and then someone would ask "does ChatGPT know we exist?" - and I had nothing. Twenty years of tools, and not one of them could answer that. Rank trackers track Google. Analytics tells you what already happened. Nothing told me whether an AI engine would actually cite a client's site when someone asked it a real question, or why it wouldn't, or what to do about it. So I started building the audits I needed for my own client work - checking schema, entity clarity, whether AI crawlers could even read the page, whether the content was structured in a way an AI would quote instead of skip. Citerank grew out of that into a real platform: it doesn't just tell you you're invisible to AI search, it generates the fix. I'm still building this in the open. It's live, it works, and it's still young - I'd rather say that plainly than oversell it.
