Clear Potential, Strong Possibilities

PART 01

Perspective:
I am a multidisciplinary creative strategist and designer.

Thoughts:
Let me begin by saying this is a good version 1.x.x of a quite flexible video conferencing and streaming platform. With that said I would like to touch on a few key aspects.

DESIGN

The overall user interface feels a bit antiquated even to the point that my partner (a non-techie) compared it to Windows XP. I feel that in a market that has become more saturated of the past 5-years design should have a higher emphasis especially with the standards for this kind of platform being set well by players such as Whereby and WebEx. Google, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams are good benchmarks as well, but their design languages tend to play it a bit more safe. I would love to see the design of the platform elevated as it greatly improves the overall experience of the product for both the hosts (internal users) and the participants (external users).
Leading off the first point, there are quite a few user experience improvements that I thought would be amazing from a user affordance perspective. The first being around branding, currently in order to add a company logo a user is expected to upload 10+ different instances of a logo with varying size requirements. This can be a major friction point for not advanced users who may not know how to produce their branding in various sizes and at a good quality. A better option may be to utilize responsive sizing parameters (VW. Rems, VW/VH, or percents) to set a standardized scale for the two main orientations. In addition, allowing the use of .svg file format would greatly decrease the need to upload multiple sizes as well as they can be scaled dynamically. With that in mind, the same thinking can be applied to the color setup. The labeling may not be clear to all users, making it difficult for the average user to style the platform and keep it on brand perfectly. By simplifying the color applications down to a more unified set, for example, button styling (text color, background color, shape) should be defined once and be applied across the entire environment.
There are more but for now I'll press pause.

Continued in reply... (if possible)

Hi Andre
It is not often we get so much detailed feedback in one review, so first of all thank you for taking the time to respond so concisely.
In regards to in-meeting design our aim is to make everything really simple. We work with many medical and pharmaceutical clients that just want to have all the tools available in one place during meetings and webinars (the side bar) without having to search around for features and all over the place. That being said, with so many features, it is always a challenge and all feedback is welcome to help us improve this, this is an ongoing journey with much more to come.
I hear you about the branding area, there are a lot of parameters that can be updated and it could be simplified! You also mentioned Whereby - we are fans and have worked with those guys before on other projects - a great product and team.
Our focus with Cloudpresenter is to provide a simple, clean interface with easy to use presentation tools, encouraging engagement and collaboration.
