Basic functionality missing. For example: moving snippets (or bookmarks or notes) between topics. This should be a simple drag and drop operation. But that's not available. Alternatively, there should be a menu so you can click on "move to topic..." but even that is missing. Alternatively, you should be able to cut and past an entry into a new topic. But even THAT is completely outside the functionality of this software. So.... you can put stuff in but you can't sort anything afterward.
So ... for a piece of software that's about curation, sharing and collaboration, it's less than useful.
To make matters worse, there's no concept of an "inbox". So if you want to save something online, (EVERY TIME) you will have to select the topic to put it in first. Because if you didn't ... well you just can't organize it afterward.
That said, they did a good job with the extension and being able to quickly save. Maybe too good ... because it's too easy to go quick and save it in the wrong topic.

Hi Frank,
We hear you.
Drag and drop to other topics/clusters has been something we've been trying to implement for quite a bit of time and it's turned out to be a bit more complex to make it scalable than we thought.
We've been trying to keep the updates coming regularly and with the next release we'll be pushing a multi-select view with bulk actions with the first action being the "bulk...
For enhanced productivity and collaboration, Collabwriting is highly recommended.
Ease of Use
As evidenced from the review draft provided, Collabwriting is very easy to use. With just the Chrome extension, you can quickly save bits of information while browsing without disrupting your workflow. The snippets are sent to your dashboard where you can easily organize and share them. For research purposes, it's invaluable to have a central place to store links, quotes, images, and notes. Pros
Pros
- Saves time by allowing you to collect research efficiently without toggling between apps - Keeps information organized with boards and tags - Shares boards and snippets seamlessly for collaboration - Provides option to automatically log out for data protection - Does not slow down browsing speed Cons
- The pop-up widget for saving snippets cannot be moved - Can temporarily freeze browser if too many snippets are added at once - Unable to log in from the Chrome extension itself Verdict
Overall, Collabwriting is an invaluable tool for anyone who frequently researches online or collaborates with a team. For a very affordable price, the Chrome extension makes organizing research simple and enables seamless sharing. Despite a couple minor drawbacks, the pros certainly outweigh the cons.

Thank you for such a comprehensive review! š
To answer a couple of your points: - While it's a time saver for some, we know not everyone wants the Collabwriting popup. You can hide it in the settings tab of the extension and the how-to tutorial can be found here: https://help.collabwriting.com/en/articles/8141642-how-to-hide-the-quick-open-button - When testing right now we were able to log in...
A niche productivity tool on AppSumo in a long time! This app is fantastic if you're an internet information hoarder and it is in my daily workflow now! Before extension based tools to highlight web content were common, I used to copy/paste content, take full page screenshots, archive webpages... With highlighting extensions, time was drastically saved.. there are many tools out there., but designed for solo use only... which was enough for me at the time. But later, to work on content as a team., I had to resort to copy/paste partially again..
Collabwriting does a neat job on solving that. The standout feature here is the collaboration. You have to try it to see how much it optimises workflow when multiple people work on something. It's simple to share to someone else, even if they don't have an account.
Texts, images, gifs are neatly captured by selecting. Helpful for researcing for content / compling information from multiple sources for academia.. Literally helped me close >3/4th of my chrome tabs// I havent thought of Kindle content highlighting at all till now., that was a nifty idea :)
Things I would love to see implemented, Folder based organisation! (atleast as a choice because i feel the team has put a lot of thought into cluster/topic based organisation). There is no option to create a cluster within a cluster., reason for leaning towards folders! For image capturing, currently I found 2 ways ā select and drag for any number of images / screenshot & add to comments. I would love to have image added by copying image address as well (like how a download manager captures the content) Video embeds if thats possible., copying video address.
Good to see a committed team behind the product. As for the deal, its a no brainer considering the price.. Grab ASAP if at all they come back...
Love this tool and grabbed the second tier. I don't use evernote and don't like creating so many bookmarks to reference info so this is exactly what I was looking for. I'm also looking forward to the roadmap and improvements. It can only get better. Grab it while you still can.
If you're an information hoarder like me, you're going to love this tool. Even though the creators wanted to make writers' lives easier, they've also helped us who do strategy for a living. :))
Finally, I don't have to keep so many tabs open. I know who wrote/said what and where. Helps me a lot when crafting decks.
The dashboard is clean and sleek.
So far, this deal is a steal.
What I would like to see in the future -
- Integration with Notion perhaps? It would be great to use Collabwriting as your knowledge gathering assistant online and push the snippets to Notion (or other PM tools)
- Videos, transcripts... Grabbing timestamps in videos?
- Integration with Loom, for example. I could gather info, attach my Loom video and send it away to clients and users.
