Q: What is a "Session"? Does the 50/100/200 limit reset daily or monthly, or is it a lifetime total?

Every other limit says per day or per month, but Sessions shows only 50/100/200. What counts as one session, how long can one last, and does the count reset? If it's a one-time total, what happens when I run out?

Learn Mode: which language ships after Java and roughly when? Is there a roadmap for Contral beyond learn mode?

Claude Code/Codex hook: is it live, and does the teaching run on Contral so my own plan only does the coding? Can you share more on if/how it works with Claude Code desktop + CLI and Codex? Do explanations use my Contral quota, not my Claude plan? Can the standalone IDE run the Claude Code/Copilot extensions with my own login/subscription vs API Key?

Lastly, if I sign up with my main email for a free account, can I redeem the AppSumo license on that same account later and keep my progress, or do I need a new account?

A: Hey! Thanks for the detailed questions. Going through them one by one:

1. What's a Session, and does the 50/100/200 limit reset?
A session is one Build chat thread with its own history, memory and plan. You start a new one with /new. The 50/100/200 (Tier 1/2/3) isn't a daily or monthly allowance. It's how many sessions you can keep saved at the same time, so it doesn't need to reset. If you hit the cap, delete sessions you don't need and the slots free up right away. No upgrade needed. One session also lasts a long time: Contral automatically compresses older parts of long conversations, and you can run /compact yourself.

2. Which language comes after Java in Learn Mode, and is there a roadmap beyond it?
Java is the first Learn Mode curriculum. We haven't set a date for the next language yet. The roadmap is public at contral.ai/roadmap, and more updates are coming soon, beyond Learn Mode too. Build Mode already works with whatever language your project uses.

3. Is the Claude Code / Codex hook live, and whose plan pays for what?
Yes, it's live. Contral watches the edits your coding agent makes and teaches you what changed and why, right next to the code. It works with the Claude Code and Codex CLIs. You just need the Contral extension installed in your editor (VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Antigravity and others), or the Contral IDE, open while the agent works.

The teaching runs on Contral and uses your Contral quota, not your Claude or OpenAI plan. Your own plan only pays for the coding the agent does. The one exception is BYOK: if you add your own API key in Contral, Contral uses that key.

4. Can the standalone IDE run Claude Code / Copilot with my own login?
Both options are there:

- Extensions: Contral IDE installs extensions from the Open VSX marketplace. That includes Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex extension, and you sign in with your own account or subscription, just like in VS Code. GitHub Copilot isn't published on Open VSX, so for Copilot use the Contral extension inside VS Code.
- BYOK: you can run Contral's own agent and teaching on your own API keys.

5. Can I sign up free now and redeem AppSumo on the same account later?
Yes. Sign up free with your main email, and when you redeem your AppSumo code, sign in with that same account. Your sessions and progress stay, and the account simply upgrades to your lifetime tier.
