Dear Sumo-ling,

We checked and found that CrystalSound's microphone works fine with Telegram Desktop on Ubuntu and Fedora. Would you mind checking again to see if there is a mistake?

Anh

Verified purchaser

Checked again on Arch Linux(EndeveaourOS) with Telegram 4.9.5 but doesn't work, I see "In use" in the CrystalSound app UI only for less than a half second when I stop recording audio message and send it, but while I recording it or while call crystall sound unable to recognize it so it's just off

Also maybe give an option for user to be able active microphone "forever"?

This is likely a compatibility issue with Endeavouros. CrystalSound relies on Pulse Audio, a hard dependency. Could you please try to install PulseAudio: https://discovery.endeavouros.com/audio/pulseaudio/2021/12/

Please also send a report in the app so that we have more diagnostic information.

Dear Sumo-ling,

We were able to replicate your bug. On EndeavourOS, Telegram could not detect our microphone while other applications can. We have added this bug to our backlog and will resolve it in the future. However, to be transparent to you, this bug has a low priority at the moment.

Just happened to catch while skimming questions that there was mention of Pulse Audio being a hard requirement--

As I recall, not only does Ubuntu 23.04 have very broken issues with its situation and as I recall, their only suggestion is basically since it seems Pipewire is going to replace pulse audio and they don't expect to be able to fix the issues with it during the lifetime of 23.04 at all, how will that affect your plans for the product going forward?

(And it's clearly looking like it's not just Ubuntu that forsook pulse for Pipewire, either...)

Hi Robin,

CrystalSound works OK with PipeWire but there are edge cases where it failed. That's why it works with some apps on EndevourOS but not Telegrams. We already know the root cause and will fix it in next version.

Anh
