Q: Hi guys

But it didn't really work out. I refunded and deinstalled it. But since then my macbook lacks in performance and battery draines very fast. When I check the processes I still have "curiosity" processes: curiosity curiosity.extractor and both are intel rosetta processes. so they suck the battery out. How I can completely remove curiosity? When I kill the processes, they start again. I am bit upset because it messed up my computer :(((( Regards Martin
Here's a help article on how to completely delete all of the app's data (we'd love to do it as part of the standard de-install process but macOS doesn't allow that): https://curiosity.slite.com/p/channel/DWzpcYyH6zipLb1Vus4R77/notes/d1sPADg58pbvho

I'm not sure if you already found this, but I wanted to share because I too needed to remove the app completely from my computer https://curiosity.slite.com/p/channel/DWzpcYyH6zipLb1Vus4R77/notes/d1sPADg58pbvho.
Aaaand that's a wrap on the Appsumo deal. Thanks for making it amazing!
Since launch we added a bunch of fixes and improvements. Thanks to everyone who reported an issue to help make the app better - you're awesome! 🎉
Thanks also for all your feedback and ideas! 🙌 There are now >230 suggestions on our roadmap! 🤯 We're loving it and working hard to get them out to you.
Here's a quick overview of the most important changes since we launched.
# UPDATES 🌟 Reduced install size by 150MB and index size by 50%, added custom data path 🌟 2x indexing speed and improved progress feedback 🌟 Added lots of settings for gets indexed and when 🌟 Added OCR for Windows and Mac 🌟 Improved clipboard handling and options 🌟 Added content indexing and export for Google Drive docs 🌟 Added support for Figma, Affinity, Adobe files (by file name) 🌟 Added import for calendar colors 🌟 Option to open O365 files with local apps 🌟 Improved navigation (Ctrl+K / Tab)

Multiple fixes / improvements for each of the following 🐞 App stability on Win/macOS (esp. failing to start or quit, unresponsive tray icons) 🐞 Creating and managing accounts 🐞 Pausing and restarting indexing 🐞 Issues causing high CPU usage 🐞 Improved behavior on older CPUs
# MOVING FORWARD And that’s not all! We’re continuing to work hard to improve the app. Next up are... ⬆️ Integrations for pCloud, Evernote, OneNote (and many more later) ⬆️ Rename sources ⬆️ Web crawler ⬆️ Shared team workspaces (managed, self-deployed)
Keep the feedback coming! Stay weird, stay curious. 🤘
It's hard to give an estimate because it depends on (a) what type of files you have (films will go quickly, large pdfs take more time), and (b) your hardware (stronger computer = faster indexing).
Very roughly, I'd expect 150GB to take couple of days on a modern laptop. After that the CPU load should drop to almost nothing unless you're actively using the app.
We're also about to release an update that will let you schedule when indexing happens so you can put it to run overnight.
I’m Leon, Co-founder of Curiosity and I’m super-excited to share what we’ve been building. Curiosity is one search across all your files and apps. It puts all your information at your fingertips so you can focus and get more done.
We all work with a bunch of apps and cloud drives. Information gets spread around and it can be hard to remember where things are. My co-founder Rafael and I used to work in corporate jobs and we often got frustrated searching for messages and documents. We built Curiosity to help avoid that.
Curiosity is useful for freelancers and professionals who find themselves wasting time searching for information. It’s very easy to set up and use.

Q: When you say "10 members" for Tier 2, do you mean I can give access to 10 people to install the Curiosity ...
program, who each have their own computers? So Tier 2 allows 10 separate installations? Thank you for all your hard work!
Hi Leon, Thank you for the quick reply! I just downloaded the free version for Windows 10 to test it, before I buy Tier 2. But I can't connect my Yahoo email. After I click "Connect" on the Yahoo button, nothing happens. No window pops up to enter my access info. Then, the Yahoo button moves up to the top of the window next to my indexed folders, and only the "Disconnect" option is showing at the bottom of the Yahoo swatch. I don't see any settings icon. What do I do now to get my Yahoo emails connected? The #1 reason why I need Curiosity is because Yahoo's internal search engine doesn't allow me to filter by Folder. I have many folders of emails and I often need to filter by Folder, Date & sender & attachements all at the same time. Can Curiosity do that? If not, any rough estimate when it might be able to do that? Thank you so much!
That's a misunderstanding, sorry. We don't support Yahoo! email natively: The connect button just lets you connect to Yahoo! web search (so you can search directly from the command bar by starting with "search yahoo" + tab).... and that button seems to be misbehaving in the latest version.
However, you can still connect your Yahoo! email account using the "email", i.e. IMAP connection: - User guide: https://curiosity.slite.com/p/channel/DWzpcYyH6zipLb1Vus4R77/notes/glnk4nKc0 - Yahoo IMAP settings: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN4075.html
In addition, we'll work on improving how we explain the connections in the app... and have a look at the Yahoo connector.
Hope that helps!
Q: Hello,
I have a strange question about what email address to redeem the offer under and if it matters.
I tend to purchase and register deals under a completely separate email address than I use products on. I find this offers some increased security. However, sometimes when registering products this creates problems since I'm not using the email address I register the product with for the actual product usage. I hope this makes sense? Think of it as a registration email that I don't really use other than purchasing the deals. Should I not do this when I redeem the product? Would I be better off using an email that I'll actually be using the product to index etc? Or does it not matter? Thank you in advance for your time and patience.
You can use any email to sign up - it doesn't need to be the one(s) you index/search. The only drawback is that there's currently no way to change the email associated with the account so you'll need to continue using that one.

Q: I am confused about the shared access.
Let's say Tier 1 = 2 team members
1 - Does this mean that 2 people will share access eachothers data or will both have separate control of their own private data? 2 - I understand each team member can install on his own multiple devices (laptop, desktop, etc). Please confirm. Thanks
1. Each "team member" will have private access to their own private data 2. Confirming each license can be used on multiple devices (it's tied to an email account, not a device)
Q: hi
Does it search/index content/text of PDF files and make them searchable?
I have over 100k pdf files, and finding content from these files will be awesome. Also is the Mac app M1Pro/Max compatible now? Hope to get your response soon. cheers k
Yes the app searches PDF contents. There is also an option (in the preferences) to turn on OCR to make scanned PDFs searchable, though results across languages will depend on your OS settings.
Not that for 100k PDFs you're probably looking at a few days of indexing and an index >10GB.
The app has always been M1 compatible - the issues some people were reporting here were unrelated to Apple Silicon.

Do check out whether it's a fit for you before getting an LTD.
1. You have to activate the first license within 60 days. There is no limit for the other seats. 2. Yes: Accounts are tied to emails not devices. You can use one license to install on all your devices. 3. Yes it does index external hard disks. Be aware that large data sources (hundreds of GB) indexing can take a long time and the index can get quite large. 4. pCloud is indeed a priority, but unfortunately I don't have an ETA for you. 5. Fine to use the same email for the LTD and the trial version. If you have any problems, just let me know.
Thank you for the clear response. I did try the app, free version. I like it, enjoyed getting the file that i wanted. Now interested to go for LTD, however, wanted to know more. 1. How long the unused license for team members exist? In the AppSumo, it is stated 60 days for activation. Is it for all the members? 2. Does a member can install same license in his/her own multiple devices (home, office, mac, windows etc)? 3. Does it index external hard disk when connected? 4. Integration with pCloud is your top priority, I understand. I also voted!! How long it will take? 5. For trail version, I signed in with an email. does it work again for LTD; because it is stated here only for new user, so!!
Q: Based on the tier, how many cloud apps do we get to search?
From your site, it seems that we only get 5 cloud apps throughout. Is that the same limit here or would we be able to get access to more depending on the Tier?
Also, would we get access to all the upcoming integrations regardless of Tier?
The Pro version (including LTD from Appsumo) includes unlimited sources and apps (incl. multiple accounts for each source). It includes current and future integrations.
Only the free version from the website is limited to 5 apps.
which is awesome because they fell off the face of the planet with no explanation and I've been hurting for a replacement ever since.
However, this could be a negative as well because saasuma did this so incredibly well that I don't want to come in with the bias that it will be my redemption.
So my question is how similarly would you compare curiosity to the previous functionality of saasuma? Their site is a generic "we'll be back" (they won't) but the Microsoft app store download page still has a broadstroke description.
One thing it did that would firmly put me head over heels if curiosity also included was it transcribed-to-index all audio from videos in the connected storage apps. So searching for "shall not pass" would return a pointer to the lord of the rings video saved in my dropbox.
Thanks for checking in! I'd not heard of Saasuma so it's a bit hard to judge, but from what's left of their website it looks like a similar kind of search application.
The main difference I see is that we don't store your data in the cloud: The Curiosity app does all the indexing locally on your machine. That means it can take a while to get everything indexed (=searchable) and it needs some storage space, but your data stays safe on your computer.
If you decide to try and find something missing, I'd be super-interested to hear about it (ideally in our Slack community) - we're always looking for ways to improve.
On video search (text-to-speech) there's a workaround if you have subtitle files - ping me on Slack or email if you'd like the details.
And if you want to try before you buy, there's a free version on the website and you can try Pro for free for two weeks as well!
There's now a first version live that connects Team / Desktop searches for enterprise clients. The desktop app lets people search private data (email etc.). The Team search (on a server) is for large/complex data (hosted by us or on-prem). You can switch between the two Workspaces in the app.
We're now working on (a) Simplifying self-deployment / management for Team searches (b) Documenting admin features for Team searches (c) Pricing (incl. hosting)
We haven't yet finalized pricing, but we will provide the Appsumo discount as promised when the time comes.
Q: Hello,
I tried the free version to test functionality.
I noticed it doesn't index all types of files and there appears to be no way to specify a type. I work with CAD and want to index sldprt, sldasm, slddrw, exe files etc. Is there any way to add file types to index?
Here's a list of supported file types: https://curiosity.slite.com/p/channel/DWzpcYyH6zipLb1Vus4R77/notes/xXslCoJ6T
You can select which file types are indexed under "Preferences" - from a pre-defined list of types we support.
Unfortunately, we don't support CAD files yet, though that may come in the future. We don't plan to add exe files because they tend to pollute results.
The index usually requires a couple of GB. That's because we build our own search index to to make the data from your cloud apps searchable (not just piggybacking on the OS native index).
The index size depends on how much data you have and how it's structured - there's unfortunately no hard-and-fast answer.
That said, the app definitely doesn't try to store ALL the data from ALL your cloud apps on your computer. It has to download it once for indexing, but it only keeps the absolute minimum to let you search your data (index, some metadata and thumbnails).
If you want to try before you jump, the Appsumo deal has a 60d no-questions return policy. Or you can use our 14d free trial.
Related: Very soon we're releasing an update that will let you customize where the app puts its data folder. That will give you more control over your disk usage.
For example, a nearly-empty Notion database will need almost nothing, whereas a folder with 50k files will need more space.
To give you a rough idea: My personal installation has ~70k files and ~60k emails. In terms of disk space it uses 5GB for the index and 0.6GB for the app itself.
Ok. The other question is I've heard it's too slow. Do you index data when you croll it or your bot needs to go through anytime when we log in? Like I can't imagine having 20+ tools and rough data like 60k. Then it just slows down my work instead of working fast.
The search / tool is usually quite snappy. It just takes a while to get the initial indexing done.
To answer your question: When you first install the app it will sync / index your data. That can take a few hours or even a couple of days. Afterwards it only checks for changes (new emails etc.). That's much smaller/faster.
Q: Hello
The app looks great, I just notice I installed it on c drive
Is there a way to move it to another ...
We don't yet support custom install / data paths, but it's on our roadmap and coming very soon. You can upvote it here to get notifications: https://feedback.curiosity.ai/b/customer-feedback/custom-install-path/
Just to mention this is a deal breaker for me (also was with copernic, many years ago).
I have been using similar systems since Altavista Desktop Search, and what all of them have in common is that the indexes take a lot of space... On my main computer, if it has to be on the C drive, that is a major problem.
Q: Is there a way to upgrade an existing Appsumo license?
What is the price and method? I bought Tier 1 and am considering Tier 2, but the link directs me to Appsumo, which won't let me upgrade because the deal is closed. TY!

Q: Hi Leon, hey what is the max time estimate for indexing Notion, Dropbox and Computer with 150 GD files?
Is the CPU-load that your app causes just in the time of indexing or it is permanent load.
As for now I see app is loading my machine a lot.
The 3 above are connected for hours but nothing is really indexed.
Looking forward for your reply.

5. Fine to use the same email for the LTD and the trial version. If you have any problems, just let me know.
Thank you, I am in!
5. For trail version, I signed in with an email. does it work again for LTD; because it is stated here only for new user, so!!
and one more,
during trail version sign in, I saw an offer for educational email, does it apply here as well?
Q: Hey - no integration with pcloud?
Best, Andreas

Q: Based on the tier, how many cloud apps do we get to search?
From your site, it seems that we only get 5 cloud apps throughout. Is that the same limit here or would we be able to get access to more depending on the Tier?
Also, would we get access to all the upcoming integrations regardless of Tier?

May 15, 2024A: Hi Charlene 👋
The Pro version (including LTD from Appsumo) includes unlimited sources and apps (incl. multiple accounts for each source). It includes current and future integrations.
Only the free version from the website is limited to 5 apps.

Q: This sounds a lot like saasuma...
which is awesome because they fell off the face of the planet with no explanation and I've been hurting for a replacement ever since.

May 15, 2024A: Hi Tim! 👋

Q: How much storage does it occupy on my desktop?
Leon_Curiosity
May 15, 2024A: The app itself is approx. 700MB. The bigger part is the index and that depends how much data you connect.
As a rough estimate, my installation takes 15GB space for indexing 60k files and 50k emails.

Q: Hi, can you give an update about workspace / team usage - the special offer you announced?
Best regards

May 15, 2024A: Thanks for checking back! 👋
There's now a first version live that connects Team / Desktop searches for enterprise clients. The desktop app lets people search private data (email etc.). The Team search (on a server) is for large/complex data (hosted by us or on-prem). You can switch between the two Workspaces in the app.
We're now working on
(a) Simplifying self-deployment / management for Team searches
(b) Documenting admin features for Team searches
(c) Pricing (incl. hosting)
We haven't yet finalized pricing, but we will provide the Appsumo discount as promised when the time comes.

Q: Hello, I tried the free version to test functionality.
I noticed it doesn't index all types of files and there appears to be no way to specify a type. I work with CAD and want to index sldprt, sldasm, slddrw, exe files etc. Is there any way to add file types to index?
Thanks
Leon_Curiosity
May 15, 2024A: Hi - Thanks for trying the app 👋
Here's a list of supported file types: https://curiosity.slite.com/p/channel/DWzpcYyH6zipLb1Vus4R77/notes/xXslCoJ6T
You can select which file types are indexed under "Preferences" - from a pre-defined list of types we support.
Unfortunately, we don't support CAD files yet, though that may come in the future. We don't plan to add exe files because they tend to pollute results.
Hope that helps!

Q: How much memory does it eat up?
I can't imagine connecting all my apps if it stays locally on my laptop. It must take so much space or how do you handle it?
Leon_Curiosity
May 14, 2024A: Good question thanks!

Ok so in average each app consumes how much? In average?
It depends on how much data you have in each app.
Q: Hello The app looks great, I just notice I installed it on c drive Is there a way to move it to another ...
drive, or I need to uninstall and reinstall it?
Thanks

May 14, 2024A: Hi! 👋

Totally understandable! But there's good news here...
A lot of Appsumos wanted this feature so we listened and prioritized it! It's has been WIP for a couple of days and we plan to release it next week. 🥳
If you check the latest version there's already a button under Settings > Storage > Index Path where it's going to go (the cog icon). 😉
Update: The option to move the index (where most storage is needed) to another drive is included in the latest update.
