great software, but...
Originally, it was 2.5 terabytes for tier three users. That’s the main reason I purchased that. This update and change gave us the option to update, but when viewing the current status, it only showed the new 250 gigabytes, which will force us to update and lose memory. We’ll basically eliminate the unlimited site option. If one gig is mandatory per site and we have 250 gigs, we can only have 250 sites. I may downgrade to tier two to make this situation make sense, unless you’re going to give tier three more memory, which in turn will allow us more desktops instead of the 250.

May 9, 2024Hello,
I would like to address the recurring misconception regarding our previous tiers (in addition to my second founder post).
Firstly, in Tier 3, we never offered 2.5TB for a single user account. It was 250 GB per distinct user, and it was not intended for creating multiple accounts using ten different emails for the same person. In the new tiers, the storage for the owner account remains the same (250 GB). Team members won't have individual storage, but their numbers have significantly increased to enhance collaboration. Please note that Deskfirst's primary focus is on being a collaboration platform, not a cloud storage alternative. Considering this, 250 GB is a substantial amount of storage suitable for many small businesses (excluding heavy creatives, etc.). We understand that some users may require more storage in their primary account; however, unlike standard subscriptions, to offer lifetime deals, we must impose reasonable limits.
The previous tiers led to three common complaints:
1) They didn't align with one of our main use cases, the "Client Portal," where clients needed Editor permissions to upload files, counting as "users" and necessitating Pro licenses and dedicated storage. This was undesirable, particularly in cases where businesses simply wanted to allow clients to join web desktops as Editors. Assigning a Pro license with storage and then revoking it after the project ended was inappropriate.
2) We couldn't offer more team members ("users") due to the constraints of the Pro limits (storage, desktops, etc.).
3) Users discovered that their account's storage was limited to 250 GB after activation, leading to confusion about accessing the storage of the other “users”.
While the previous tiers served some users well, such as those who didn't require many client uploads but needed a team to create web desktops, this was less common. Unlike standard subscription plans, we are not able to accommodate every use case with fixed predefined lifetime deals. If you require more storage or Pro team members, please consider joining our satisfied customers who have purchased a subscription plan. We are always open to constructing such plans tailored to our customers' needs.
Regarding the "Unlimited web desktops" wording, we suggested AppSumo place an asterisk next to it. However, the meaning is unlimited until all the allocated storage is used.
Best regards
