This is a nice tool. I have one improvement I'd like to suggest.
I have a file of appsumo tool links that I keep on my desktop that I tried dragging onto the Deskfirst desktop and it treated them like files instead of links. I wish there were a way to just use .url files as if they were links.

Onto the great things about this..
I work with someone on a lot of fun stuff but we live on opposites sides of the world from one another. This tool feels a bit like a missing link.

We can leave files, links and notes laid out in a clear way for each other on a desktop we set up for a particular need. We can set a Vento video link with instructions for the day up for each other. We use Noysi for messaging and had used Koofr and google drive for sharing documents. Now we can add this to the mix and use others for mostly backup and automation/integration purposes.

We used to have the same password for every extra user account I had set up to make it simpler, but the notes we can add to each file/link on Deskfirst allow us to keep more secure passwords for each service too. So if someone leaves the project it will be easier to update a password and communicate the change more seamlessly by leaving notes with those details directly on the link.

I really like the idea of setting up departments for my own productivity with different desktops. I like that I can access them from my chromebook on my cocktail table or from my desktop at the office. So wherever I feel like doing anything I have the tools I'd need right there online waiting for me at the ready.

However, the biggest gain I see is being able to present tools and files for others in a friendly and immediately familiar way.
