I dont understand the 5 taco reviews

We purchased this as a "Sales" agent chatbot but ended up with a generic operator we already have in Chatbase. The setup is quite confusing... Each chatbot is under campaign and you must find that tiny icon that opens the whole customization module...(not too user friendly).

To our big surprise BYOK is not really a cherry on top, because you can only work with Claude, which will eventually start generating more recurring costs. 🚩

You are monitored from the onboarding. 🚩
You will be asked to provide personal and business information with the owner in order to register your account... Why? In other chatbot tools this onboarding flow has never been seen. We have bought 3 chatbot services so far.

THIS MISSES THE CORE CONCEPT OF APPSUMO COMPLETELY!!
Entrepreneurs and Agencies come here for LTDs Lifetime Deals... this is a countdown until you start paying...Very clever for the app owner but not so for Summolings.

The RED FLAG, the credits make no sense.🚩
It's set up to charge you 50 credits just for connecting a channel (ex. WhatsApp) and will charge you 50 credits monthly just for keeping it connected....Meaning by the end of 1 year (if you only have 1 chatbot) or a few months if you connect many chatbots (for customers) you will already have to spend more by either getting a monthly subscription or purchase more credits.
The architecture of this kind of monetization feels like a MOB architecture 😄 everything looks shiny and attractive on the outside, 5 taco reviews, no mentions of the ONLY CLAUDE API available, and other questionable settings.

We purchased Tier 3 hoping to get EXACTLY what the comments and reviews are saying...and we don't end up with a highly skilled sales agent. Same as other chatbot tools, you will have to train it yourself to do so.

We are returning DM Champ for now. We really hoped this would live up to its reviews but it feels too shady.

We are still waiting on a refund. Our concerns are not from inexperience... We did mention we have other LTD chatbots... Either way, this is not selling itself as the powerful features with what a user can use to design their OWN INFRASTRUCTURE... its selling itself as a plug and play..its not... You might want to use other AI chatbots and see what we are talking about.
We have our own chatbot interface with unlimited chatbots, whitelabel, voice-calls (not too fancy) with BYOK where we can select ALL llm models we want, not just CLAUDE. We were interested in the "sales agent" that your campaign is mostly about when you go through your whole funnel is selling this application as... Another user felt exactly the same... shiny by with question marks. The features you offer are promising and we really wish y'all the best. But we have also made bad investments in other projects which makes us have to retrieve our purchase. If you want to be more transparent please add ONLY CLAUDE right here on the product description page, not in FAQs..or anywhere else. That alone would have made us avoid the transaction in the first place.

We also understand you need to protect your product...just letting other Sumos know what they are getting. You have a great product, it just doesnt fit what we thought we were getting or hoping for.

UPDATE:
You cant use "Usecases" as if they are your own wins. THEY ARE USECASES...what some people can still do millions with PowerPoint others just can't. When you mention a SALES AGENT, since we have been trying to tailor the perfect AI chatbot for over 5 years, so far Chatbase is the best, and it takes on-going training, and updating the chatbot. The first thing that comes to mind when we see the product page here is that you market "THE SALES" which is the one skill that you did have that makes DM Champ, not the chatbot or features, its the training and years of editing to get that one perfect agent you can replicate.
What you need to do is FIX your pitch, talk more of the special features and what others have accomplished with those features.

One does not have to join outside communities, Skools or other platforms. You have the right business mindset but your angle is not honest. This 50 credits for WhatsApp is nowhere to be found.
By Experience we mean: We already own and sell ready to go Chatbots with BYOK including all the different llm models you've mentioned (no errors), voice calls (not the best but works), connect your own domain, integrations to whatsapp, instagram, messenger (which you dont have yet) along with zapier, webhooks, etc....Not one DIME to be spent on other services besides the API fees (Gemini flash is free btw)...that's a LTD.

Again, from experience, we have lost thousands in projects here on AppSumo that disappeared after a 6-24 month period. This is us being extremely cautious. You could make BILLIONS out of a chatbot we sold you but the training remains yours...We cant resell your results as our own...We cant replicate it. Anyways world is a scary place, not everyone here is honest.

A few things I want to clear up because I think there are some misunderstandings.

The 50 credits/month isn't for "connecting a channel" -> it's specifically for WhatsApp Web, where we spin up a dedicated private server and proxy for your number to keep your account safe. That's real infrastructure running 24/7 just for you. The other channels (Instagram, Messenger, SMS, Chat Widget) don't have this cost.

Nothing is hidden. Everything about credits, costs, and how the platform works is explained right on the AppSumo listing in the FAQs, and our demo bot walks you through it too before you even buy. We're pretty upfront about what you're getting.

The business information during onboarding is required by Meta for WhatsApp Business API compliance. Every platform that offers official WhatsApp integration collects this. It's not monitoring, it's a legal requirement.

On it being a "generic chatbot" -> the sales agent capabilities come from the campaign setup: playbooks, follow-up sequences, AI-powered booking, lead qualification. These aren't on by default because every business sells differently. Once configured, our users' AI agents have closed millions in verified revenue. That's the customization module you mentioned, and we're always improving the UX to make it easier.

We put a lot of effort into being transparent about exactly what you're buying.

On Claude only BYOK. We did not pick Claude out of preference. We ran every major model through the actual customer facing agent over several months, GPT 4, GPT 4o, Gemini Pro, Gemini Flash, Llama, Mistral, the full list. With most of them, 9 out of 10 conversations would be fine. But the tenth would hallucinate, break a tool call, or produce a pluggy formulaic reply that sounded like a chatbot from 2022. When you are running hundreds of production conversations a day for real customers, a 10 percent failure rate is not acceptable, that is dozens of broken chats. Claude was the only model that held up consistently across thousands of real customer conversations. So BYOK is Claude only because that is the model the product actually runs on, not because we are locking you in. For those who do not want to bring a Claude key, we recently introduced our own model that performs on par.

On plug and play versus designing your own infrastructure. Genuinely depends on what someone is trying to do. If you run your own chatbot stack with unlimited bots, whitelabel, multi LLM BYOK and voice, that is a serious build and full credit to you for it. The tradeoff is the maintenance burden, and we are sitting in the middle of that spectrum on purpose for the people who do not want to run their own infra.

On the shady framing. We have been live on AppSumo for two and a half months and our refund rate sits under 15 percent, which AppSumo's own support has told us is on the strong end of what they see. That does not mean every Sumoling is a fit, and you clearly are not. Your refund will go through AppSumo's normal flow.
