A use case would be to publish to pages and posts that way one has a backup of all content (text and images) for pages and posts.

If Google Docs changes are able to sync with posts, perhaps it would be possible to have pages do the same? This would make writing and publishing your site's content (pages and posts) much more streamlined and any editing could be done in one place (Google Docs).
