What are past projects, failures, or successes you’ve had in your career?

My journey has always revolved around solving hard problems at the intersection of finance, technology, and user experience. Projects: At one point of time, I was building a platform for international travellers to experience India. It gave me a front-row seat to how messy global payments can be collecting money across borders was far harder than delivering the actual experience. Failures: I later spent a year exploring opportunities in health finance. Despite effort and conviction, it didn’t scale. It taught me what not to build and how timing, regulation, and distribution matter as much as the idea itself. Successes: Before Dodo Payments, I helped build a $600M+ loan book for international students from 30+ emerging markets studying in the world’s top universities. That experience cemented my belief that payments and financial infrastructure should be borderless. Those lessons directly shaped Dodo Payments, a platform built to remove the friction I’ve seen up close for years.

What’s the origin of the idea for your product?

The idea for Dodo Payments started from a simple frustration. I always wondered why I had to pay for ChatGPT using an internationally enabled credit card, but could pay in INR via UPI for App Store purchases. That curiosity led me down a rabbit hole into how the App Store and Play Store make monetization seamless with local payment options, tax handling, and billing infrastructure, yet the same experience didn’t exist for websites or independent software builders. Dodo Payments was born to fix that gap. We wanted to bring AppStore-level monetization to the open web, enabling any AI tool, SaaS, or digital product to accept local payments globally, without needing a payments team or complex setup.

What problem is your product solving and how?

Global monetization is still broken for builders. Founders can now launch AI tools, SaaS apps, and digital products in a weekend but setting up payments is still a nightmare. You need to deal with payment solutions, billing platforms, auth/db platforms that were never designed for AI-native builders.
