Flatlogic is an AI web application builder that promises flexibility and ease in creating web applications. From a backend perspective, I appreciate how it simplifies database design and API creation. However, my experience revealed limitations that significantly affect its overall usability.
1. Backend Support: Flatlogic offers some flexibility in database design and API generation, which is helpful for quickly setting up a backend.
2. Limited Frontend Customization: Despite its promises, the tool allows only limited frontend development. It primarily focuses on building admin dashboards and internal pages for CRM/ERP tools. Public-facing pages like home, pricing, or services are not within its capabilities. Users will only have a login page and the inner admin panel, which is unsuitable for many projects.
3. Inadequate AI Features: The AI features, which could have been a significant value-add, are disappointing. They are limited to basic tasks like renaming tables and data columns. The builder only asks a handful of initial questions to configure a base application, after which customization and editing options become quite restricted. Moreover, after the initial creation process is completed, the AI button and chat are hidden, reducing the ability to make meaningful modifications.
4. Workflow Limitations: For those needing specialized workflows or unique application structures, Flatlogic won't meet expectations. Its templates are generic, and users seeking a highly customized or production-ready frontend will find themselves limited by the tool's constraints.
In conclusion, Flatlogic is best suited for creating generic CRM or ERP templates with minimal customization. It might help with quickly bootstrapping a project, but don't expect it to deliver a fully customized frontend ready for production.
