A good tool, worth the price, but falls short in a couple critical areas.

This is super handy and will save me a ton of time making tech tutorials. However, it has some significant drawbacks that require I still export even the most basic tutorials into another video editor. These are two critical problems and with both issues, I can't give FocuSee more than three stars -- and even that only because it is well priced. Honestly, its only selling feature is the zoom. And for that, it is excellent.

First, and most surprising, the camera recording on Windows is very poor. I have a 4k webcam and an rtx 4090. My rig can easily record a 1080 window at 30fps and 4k webcam at 30fps simultaneously. I have done so before. But, I would settle for a 1080 window at 30fps with 1080 webcam image at 30fps, since that's a more realistic and common use case for me and probably most other creators. But, at least on windows, this can't do it. It can't even seem to record the camera alone at 1080, with no screen capture happening (which is bonkers and totally baffling). That means that if I want to be able to switch from camera only to PiP with a window, I have to be recording the camera input separately and then edit it all together later. I can't use Stream Deck or OBS to switch live while recording and have even minimally acceptable video quality.

The second issue is the built in video editor has no way to speed up portions of the video. This is such a common and basic element of tech tutorial and walkthrough videos, it surprised me that it wasn't in the app. That's especially true since I know they have the function in their separate video editing app. I'm finding I often have to drop the finished FocuSee video into another video editor just to speed up a few clips where I don't want viewer to wait for a load, process, or typing. That means even a super basic tutorial video with no full-screen camera time still has to be run through another app.

If they can fix both of these things, I will revise this review and upgrade the tacos. And I will certainly keep a 1-machine license to support their development and as an investment in future features. But, right now, this tool is only good for its zoom function and otherwise falls well behind other screen recorder apps. The zoom function is awesome, but that's this app's only trick, and that's just not enough.
