Q: A few questions about using Fynlo in Australia
1. Does Fynlo support Australian requirements such as storing the ABN for customers, vendors, and my own business?
2. In Australia, if a business is registered for GST, invoices must legally include the words “Tax Invoice”, otherwise just “Invoice.” Can Fynlo automatically handle this distinction?
I understand Tier 2 includes invoice customisation, but if Tier 1 cannot automatically determine whether the business is GST-registered and apply the correct invoice title, Tier 1 may not be suitable for Australian businesses.
3. Is customer and/or merchant data—either fully or partially—encrypted at rest?
4. I’m particularly interested in the receipt auto‑scanning functionality. Will the system detect and store the merchant’s ABN from scanned receipts, linking it to the merchant record?

Dec 16, 2025A: Hi jdee,
Thanks for your questions! Here’s a breakdown:
1. You can include the ABN on invoices using the Invoice Designer (custom field). However, we currently don’t store the merchant’s ABN automatically from scanned receipts. For guidance, see: https://assist.fynloapps.com/hc/en-us/articles/5061561941406-How-to-Add-ABN-to-your-Invoice
2. Fynlo doesn’t automatically detect whether a business is GST-registered in Tier 1. With Tier 2, you can customize invoices, but automatic “Tax Invoice” vs “Invoice” detection isn’t available yet.
3. Customer and merchant data, especially sensitive personal information (PII), is encrypted at rest to ensure security.
4. Regarding OCR and ABN recognition, we currently do not support automatic ABN detection from receipts.
We hope this clarifies things! 🙂 Let us know if you’d like guidance on using ABNs in invoices or any other feature.
