One tool, one task.

Have a taco, HistorySearch. No, really, have 5!

This is one of those tools that I initially noticed here on AS and shrugged and said to myself, "Why would I need something like that?" and went away.

Came back a couple of days ago and read all the reviews and realized it wouldn't hurt to try it out: I'm sick of having a hundred tabs open across multiple browsers and browser windows, and trying to keep track of where I saw what. Stacked the 2 codes as recommended, installed on Chrome on my Macbook Pro.

Since then, I've been playing. Hesitantly, then more excitedly as I discovered forgotten goodies. This is one of those tools that does one thing and only one thing, but it does it WELL! Are there still gaps in the functionality? Sure, but most of those are on the roadmap (if you need a particular feature, go up vote it on the trello board that Martijn shared!)

I had a couple of questions, and Martijn himself responded. Like, personally! Even on the weekend! (Martijn, you are allowed to get some sleep and hopefully this AppSumo launch will let you hire a few more deeply techie support staff! Save your time for doing the valuable architecture stuff, that's your highest value output!)

The only disappointment has been Safari on the Mac ... HS can't import the history. That's a Safari limitation, and there is a task on the roadmap to fix this, so I guess I can stop whining about not having functionality in an app I never knew I needed, huh?

I've just started realizing I don't need to be paranoid if I accidentally shut down chrome (Cmd-Q instead of Cmd-W, anyone?) ... I can just happily shut it down any time and be confident that HistorySearch has my back.

If you're on the fence about buying HistorySearch, ask yourself: what would it be worth to have HistorySearch manage your browsing history not just across browsers on one computer, but ... across MULTIPLE computers and devices? I just started importing history from my older Macbook (8 years of history, yes some will be obsolete!), and I have an old Windog machine lying around somewhere too! That unlimited storage that HS offers? They're going to need more storage if all us Sumolings get the two-code stack and do what I'm doing!
