Thank you for your patience and thank you very much for bringing this up so that we could fix it.
Kind regards
Jens
Q: Will we be able to open the QR Code with the VR images on a Chromebook or is this only available for iphone/android?
Also, I bought a code and am attempting to open the codes; it is not working most of the time as the "tap to view" option isn't showing. Suggestions? I've followed the steps provided so that isn't the issue as sometimes it's viewable, but mostly it is not.
Are we able to simple embed the VR images on a website rather than needing a code or is this not a stand-along option for 3d viewing without using a QRcode?
Here are answers to your questions. I hope I understand you correctly and otherwise please try to write again. Preferably through the chat widget in the editor. this way I will get a notification and can answer you more quickly :-).
Regarding the QR code: The QR code is a link to your AR (augmented reality) experience. You can scan it with any phone or tablet that has a web-browser and a web connection. It is useable on Chromebooks as well, but if you have a Chromebook with only a standard camera (i.e., not one that points away from the user) it is sub-optimal.
Regarding: "Also, I bought a code and am attempting to open the codes; it is not working most of the time as the "tap to view" option isn't showing. Suggestions? I've followed the steps provided so that isn't the issue as sometimes it's viewable, but mostly it is not." Are you talking about opening the QR code or the AppSumo redemption code? If you try to access a Hololink via the QR code it should work. We have no known issues with that. Could you write to me via the editor chat and tell me which phone and OS you are using? Thank you.
Regarding: "Are we able to simple embed the VR images on a website rather than needing a code or is this not a stand-along option for 3d viewing without using a QRcode?" This software is for creating AR (augmented reality), not VR (virtual reality). As such the experience needs a device that has a camera so that it can place your creations as a digital layer on top of the real world. So it is not created for embedding your creations on a web site, unless this website is for viewing on a mobile device, where you expect your audience to access the website and then go to an AR experience form there.
Here's a short help article about what Hololink is: https://app.intercom.com/a/apps/m3w3cd15/articles/articles/6220848/show
And here's a longer one about what we deliver and why it is valuable: https://www.hololink.io/post/why-webar-is-the-key-to-augmented-reality-becoming-the-next-mass-medium
Have a nice day and don't hesitate to reach out again.
The terms and conditions must be white-labeled to our domain, company name, and information. Naturally, the link back to the hololink landing page needs to be changed to a URL of our choice. Without these changes, we can't use the product in a commercial setting. The pdf also needs to be white-labeled as well.
Q: Why this 2-step process of having a QR code to load and then a target image.
How about having the QR code serve as both? or a custom image serves as both. Point phone at image or QR code, load, and go. This 2 step process creates a lot of friction for users. Most ar apps run with just 1 step.
The reason for the 2-step process is as follows. Hololink serves webAR as opposed to AR through an app as the major friction point for most users when it comes to AR experiences is actually downloading the app. With AR campaigns, having a single app for many campaigns and brands is simply not feasible. Therefore you should see the scanning of the QR code as the equivalent of downloading and installing the app. In this case, scanning the QR code is the faster and more frictionless option. The next step, which is scanning the target image is the same for both app based AR and webAR when working with image based AR. This has been widely researched and written about. For example in this excellent post: https://www.marketingdive.com/spons/5-reasons-webar-should-be-part-of-your-marketing-plan/593655/
For the first part of your question, we use the 2-step approach because most users want the image target to be a context-specific image. You are free to use the QR code as your image target by copying it and adding it to your project in the preview modal if this is the way you want to go. And we actually have some examples of users who have done this, but there aren't a lot.
Regarding using a custom image as a QR code, this would need an app that specifically encoded a chosen image, as adding binary information to any image is difficult to do. This is why we have gone with the worldwide standard that QR codes deliver. And QR codes can be customised as you probably know, so that they appear more interesting than the standard black and white type, like the examples here: https://i.pinimg.com/736x/ce/90/04/ce9004f16b99aec9b1bcacc2559c9b1b.jpg
I hope I answered your question in a good way. Have a nice day.
Q: 1) What is an "active white label hololink" - does this mean you can only have one hololink item?
Or one branding of multiple hololinks on T1, but for T2 you can have different brands or company names?
2) Is this only for paper products as you mentioned. I'm wondering it a meditation visualization experience can be created with your system where they are in the experience of the visualization.
1) An active white label hololink is any hololink that is white labeled, i.e. hosted on your unique, personal url, whether it be your own or a clients url. On T1 you buy the right to have 1 white label, so you can only have one at any time. You can always delete it or unpublish it and use the white label for another hololink, but you can never run more than one at a time. If you have bought T2, you have 2 white labels, etc. I hope that makes sense.
2) We currently only support image targets, which can be printed on paper, such as books, posters, business cards, stickers etc. But it can also be a section of wall that always has the same lighting or some other real world object that consistently looks the same. When it comes to meditation visualisation, I would need to know more about how you envision the experience to tell you if Hololink is suitable for that. You are welcome to reach out with more details and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
When we write remove watermark from 3 projects, it means that you have 3 white labels available. Each white label will be without a watermark in addition to hosting it on your url and other unique designs that you can implement, such as customising the loading screen and changing the loading texts.
When you delete a project that is white labeled, that white label is available for another project, so if you have bought 3 white labels, you can run as many different white label projects as you want on them, but only 3 at one time. I hope I understood your question correctly.
When you are in the project list, you simply choose the team. Below the team name you see the following four items: * Hololinks * Team Members * Statistics * Settings.
To see the statistics, click "statistics".
I hope this helped. Don't hesitate to write again if you have more questions.
Q: I have bought 1 code and considering stacking to 5 but would like to know if you are planning on implementing ...
any of these:
1) Transitions - I couldn't see any way of adding transitions on individual items and between scenes, is this something planned? I am talking about fade in/scale up/slide in etc
2) Delays - I understand you can have an action such as change scene after an amount of time but I would like to delay an item appearing, also used with transitions e.g. after 5 seconds fade in this image
3) Loading Page - Can we have the ability to upload a logo on the loading page? I know you can add a URL for a background but you would first need to host this somewhere and 99% of the time I would just upload a logo on a coloured background. Also can we change the favicon it still has the Hololink logo?
4) Whitelabel Domain - I'm not sure if I am just not doing this correctly but for example I set my domain as ar.mydomain.com I was expecting when published to show this link then the name of my Hololink e.g. ar.mydomain.com/hololink1 however it just shows ar.mydomain.com, is this correct? It seems a bit impractical only being able to have one CNAME per Hololink. It would be easier if there was a place in settings to put our CNAMES then just choose them from a dropdown when we publish instead of having to enter it each time
Thanks for reaching out with some excellent questions. Some oft he features you mention are on our agenda, but I have to admit that they're not up for the next 3-6 months because of other priorities. I'll go through them beklow:
1. The only transitions we have right now are the actions between scenes, so clicking an object or setting and automatic transition from one scene to another on animation end, video end or a timer. But we are definitely looking into this as it has been requested by other user. We have preliminary designs but as mentioned won't be starting development on them until September at the earliest due to other features that are currently prioritized higher.
2. If I understand correctly, you would like there to be a delay within a scene, for example waiting 3 seconds before starting an animation or before fading in a 3D model?
3. This is not something we have planned, but I'll take this up with the team and see when we can implement it. It would be a good idea and having your own favicon is very important so I'll bring that right to our next design meeting later today. Thanks for pointing that out.
4. You have a very good point and I'll bring this to the design meeting as well. Currently you need to set CNAME for every url, but the way you describe it would make a lot of sense.
I hope I answered your questions and we'll start looking at the features you mentioned. But once again I have to be frank and say that the transition features will not be done during the next 2-3 months.
Thanks for your replies Jens. Yes for 2) for an example I would have a background video playing and after 5 seconds I would fade in an image. This delay (and transition) would be set on the individual item (image), I use this quite a lot in Zapworks Designer and it is a very handy feature
Thanks
Q: I've a quick question.
I'm using Camtasia application. I want to make 3D scenes. Then download it to my computer and edit it with Camtasia. Is this possible? In other words, can I download the 3D video, or it isn't possible due to the need to render the video?
If it isn't possible, is there another way to add the video to Camtasia like video screen recording?
I haver to admit that I'm not completely sure if I understand your question correctly, so if my answer is incomplete or incorrect, please write back with more details.
The 3D scenes that you create in Hololink are not 3D video, but are a combination of 3D, video, images and audio that together make up what we call a Hololink. This is created using BabylonJS which is a real time 3D engine for the web. So a Hololink is an augmented reality experience that is served on the internet in the same way that you would serve a website. I've written a short help article on what a Hololink is here: https://intercom.help/hololink/en/articles/6220848-what-is-a-hololink
So if you want to create a 3D scene in Hololink and then download it as a video, you would need to do what you have yourself described; Create the scene and then make a screen recording of your scene, either in the editor or on your phone whilst looking at the AR experience.
I hope that this answers your question. Please feel free to write again if there's something I've missed.
Q: I'm very curious about the treasure hunt functionality.
Would I be able to have people go on a multistep journey, with multiple objects and "clues", if I buy the 1 active Whitelabel version? Or would I have to have a unique link for each item across my treasure hunt?
I'm also curious as to your team setup, Software background, and funding situation? Do you have a BIG team? Is this all based on Unity or where do you use as the backend? Will this service survive - Do you have larger backers at this point?
Lastly, who do you think are your biggest competitors? 😊
We're developing the treasure hunt functionality with user inputs, so the final design is not decided upon yet. I would say that we are half way there. The reason I write this is that if you have some great ideas that are very specific we would love to hear them and takle them into consideration while finishing our design. We can't promise that your wishes will be incorporated, but maybe they will. At the moment, out plan is to create multiple steps based on several Hololinks, but that doesn't mean that they all need to be white labels, as we would create direct links within the Initial Hololink to the following Hololinks. Each one with new clues and new target images. If you have inputs and ideas, you are welcome to write to me at jens@entropyfox.com and maybe we can even have a chat about how you envision an AR treasure hunt.
Our team consists of 8 people with more than 50 years combined background within development of large systems, app development, mathematical physics, software design, UX, UI and management of large international projects, so we have a solid foundation and have been praised by larger and older companies for our achievements with Hololink, having brought the company to it's current state from scratch in less than 3 years.
Our computer vision is developed in house based on OpenCV and is built on Angular and BabylonJS. So no Unity. But we are looking at adding webXR for Android and hopefully for iOS if Apple opens up for that.
We have some very large backers at the moment. I am not at liberty to tell you their names or the size of their investments, but we are solid at the moment.
Our biggest competitor is Zappar. But they don't deliver the same story-building functionality that we do. There are of course other AR companies out there, but they deliver SDK's and other means of creating AR that are not really comparable to our platform. Not meaning that they don't deliver great software, but it is different from ours in many ways.
I hope that I answered your questions satisfactorily.
I'm very sorry to hear that. We haven't seen this issue before or heard it from any other users, so I'm guessing it is a special case. But we want it to work for everyone, so could I get you to write to me in the support channel (just use the chat in the corner of the editor). The I'll do everything I can to help you find the issue and get it fixed.
And once again, I'm very sorry you've experienced this. But I'm sure we can fix it for you and actually a new version of our image tracking will be deployed next week which will make tracking even better than it is right now, so maybe your bug will disappear once that is out.
Q: Is it true that you use vendor locking techniques?
1. A little fairy told me that even though you use WebAR and you seem to be proud of it, when people want to move their work an models to use on their own platform you don't have any option and even refuse to provide these.
Is this true?
2. Also, is it true that you make excuses that are technically innacurate and simply lies in order to avoid people from keeping their work?
Please answer sincerely without politics or salesy talk.
I have to start by saying that I really don't know what you are referring to. To answer your questions:
1. The short answer to your question is: No. It is not true.
The long answer, to qualify the short answer is:
We use WebAR and are very proud of it as it gives freedom to the end.user and the creator, as they are not reliant on an app. When it comes to moving your work from our platform, this is not a problem as everything you create on Hololink is served as a web link that can be used anywhere. And if you want to serve it under your own domain, that is exactly what you are buying through AppSumo, namely the possibility of white labeling your creations. As for moving models from our platform to a platform of your own, you can't create models on our platform, so you would already have them on another platform prior to using them on Hololink. If you for some reason decide to stop using hololink and want us to delete your data on our platform, we will gladly do that for you, and you can always delete any models, images, video, audio or other assets you have uploaded .
2. No this is not true. And I frankly do not even know what you mean by this, since, as stated above, anything you create on Hololink is available to you and we claim no ownership over it whatsoever. Your work is your work and you can access it through the unique url that it resides on and change it at any time using our platform.
I hope this answers your question and if not, please feel free to ask again or contact us through email.
You said we can delete and serve under a domain? Why you talking about this? I am talking about owning our data and taking it all with us...
It was very clear what I was talking about don't pretend we are talking about pointing domain...
Can we export our data or not?
I asked for a non political or sales answer and that's what I got.
Let me put this simply. If we don't want to work with Hololink at some point in the future how do we export our work and host it ourselves?
Q: Hello
How do you compare to Aryel, an AR experience building platform that was on appsumo a while ago?
I noticed that Aryel is much more mature and offers over 5 different types of AR, like facial, surface, geolocation, marker based, etc.
What about your platform? How many different type of AR experiences you offer and would love to go into a detail comparison between both your platform and Aryel.
That is a good question. 🙂 Hololink is based on our own tracking algorithms, which get better every week thanks to our advanced computer-vision training. But we do not use any of Apple or Google's standard AR solution, which platforms like Aryel do, to some extent. This has it's pros and cons of course, but in the long run we have complete and ownership control over our tracking which is important to us, so that we can ensure that it will always work and that external companies can not exercise control over our tracking capabilities.
It is true that we currently only support image tracking, but we are currently working on: * surface tracking * wayfinding/geo-location * tracking on curved surfaces and objects
I can give you an exact date for when these will be available, as developing advanced software like this is a very technical process, but it's not far away🚀.
Also, with Hololink, you get features that allow you to create advanced and complex user interaction flows, so that you can tell stories where your users can experience multiple different things within the same AR experience and have the ability to change the course of the story-lines that they are following, if you let them. This creates deeper engagement and longer retention, which is what we all want from our users.
As for going into a detailed comparison, this would be unfair if we did this, because we would of course be biased, so I'll leave that to users who don't have a vested interest in either company, so that the comparison is 100% fair😀.
I'm afraid that I don't have a time-line for surface tracking right now, so whether that is the first extended tracking we launch, I can't say for sure. I can say that either surface og geo-tracking will be first and that surface will be before object and face tracking.
I'm sorry I can't be more specific right now.
Regards
Jens
Q: 1.
Can you do AR like Livshows.com I take jpg files (up to 10) and can drag and drop them to the stage to create an exhibition.
You can try it here: http://ar.roboticdress.com
I have never found anyone who can do what they do without coding.
2. I find it crazy expensive only allowing ONE white label AR fir $59. That’s kind of crazy and not at all a deal. I request that you increase it. Even livshows gives you 10 white label for $80
1. You can add as many jpg or png to a scene as you want. Along with 3D models, video and audio. Adding them directly to your AR stage (in Hololink we call it a scene) and serving them at the click fo a button.
2. As for the pricing, our price covers everything you get from Hololink, but the white labels, analytics and customization of the viewer are what you get when you buy a license. As such I would argue that it is very cheap. If we compare to livshows.com, they offer single scene AR, with no interaction capabilities. I also noticed that any models I uploaded to livshows that contained animations were shown without the animation. Thus, I could create a static AR scene that could be served on the web, but my user could do nothing but look at it, which is honestly not that engaging to a modern consumer.
With Hololink you get advanced interactive capabilities, with the ability to build augmented reality with as many scenes as you want, containing 3D, video, audio and images. Your users can click on any object or you can set automatic transitions guiding your users through a journey or a story. You can have animated models with multiple animations and you get a cutsomizable phone viewer, which does not use the standard view shown i.e. when using ARKit for AR on an iPhone, in the way that livshows does. 🚀
Also, with this deal, you get the white label for life, which means that for only $59 you can create AR with thousands of users, and once your users data traffic surpasses what you have paid in data costs, we will not charge you, but will let you keep using it forever. I would argue that that's a great deal🎁.
So in my opinion we are offering a great deal which is not only future proof when it comes to storytelling and engagement, but with a roadmap that in the very near future will give you all the tracking features that you would expect from larger and more expensive software packages. Everything web-based with no creator- or user-friction and no app downloads that stop end-users in their tracks.
I hope this answered your questions. Have a nice day
Thank you for your very thoughtful and clear answers. I will definitely consider to buy a code and try it out.
I would like to ask, would you consider yourself more like an 8th wall?
Also, if I buy one code for myself, and then I want more, and the appsumo deal is done, will you offer a special appsumo pricing to us for adding more white label ar (I don’t know what to call it) activations?
It would be really nice if you would offer us this type of deal as we invest in your service early and we give a lot of our feedback. Many companies reward us by giving us special pricing when we grow beyond our plan.
Happy to help ✌️ I guess we’re in the same category as 8th wall, but with two main differences: 1. Hololink is much cheaper than 8th wall, so you can target smaller brands (their cheapest plan for a launched campaign starts at around $1.000) 2. Hololink doesn’t require any coding. 8th wall requires that you’re very skilled with JavaScript, WebGL, CSS, etc.
After the AppSumo deal closes, you can always buy more active white labeled Hololinks for a monthly price. This cost should be off-loaded to your clients, so shouldn’t be a problem. You can see a full overview of our standard pricing on hololink.io 🙂🙌

HI, just to clarify, you can do the same thing Livshows can do you said, but you don't do surface tracking. So right now with livshows, I send a link to someone, they open it on their phone, the phone sees where is the floor, and snaps the objects to the floor. That is not possible with your service, right?
The simple anser is yes. We can not snap things to the floor as livshows does. With that platform you can anchor an object to the floor, with our platform you can anchor objects to an image or other pre-defined surface that the camera recognizes.
This will be possible later this year, but not at the moment no.

Q: hello, we are construction company we would to know the use cases both for architecture construction and other areas.
And wonder if there is a demo? We are using 2d Autocad mostly.
We currently only support .glb and .gltf models in the editor and you cannot edit the 3D within the editor, other than resizing and positioning. So we do not have autocad features and do not support dwg files natively in the editor. Any files wold need to be converted to .glb or .gltf in a third party program before importing them.
Also, we do not have contractor customers at the moment. Most of our customers are add agencies, schools, universities or one-person creative companies.
If you are interested in doing work with architecture, I would suggest that you try our software for free at https://editor.hololink.io. Not have all the features that you get with the AppSumo deal are available, but you can see what is possible with 3D and how our tracking works, so that you can get an idea of whether the software is good for your specific use cases.
And if you have more questions, please don't hesitate to write again.
Hello there, thank you for your interest in Hololink. 🙂
You can consider using our business card. Here is a link to a quick demo: https://youtu.be/19dTV4l7YS0
You can add anything to a business card. It can be any 3D model with animations, or maybe a video. You can also add as many links as you want and add Calls To Action, prompting the viewer to interact with the card and sending them to web-sites or other AR experiences.
The flow is that the customer takes your card and scans the QR code on it, and then keeps scanning the card to see the experience. They do not need to download an app, so the experience is seamless.
We currently only support image tracking, where the experience is anchored to an image. This could be a book, a poster or some other flat material placed on a table, on the floor, on the wall or maybe on a signpost. the content is placed relative to the image one chooses as the anchor.
We are working on tracking that allows you to add content to any surface, and will be adding this to the platform as soon as possible. But I'm afraid that I can't give you a specific date for that yet.
The reason that we started by focusing on image tracking, is that research shows that the highest impact one can get out of using AR, is if the content is context-specific, meaning that it is anchored to a real life object, place or thing. This is where AR really comes into it's own and user engagement through interactive elements combined with connection to a place or thing really pays off, by making sure that users feel a higher connection to the experience, the product or the learning experience, whereby they remember it for longer and are more likely to go back to it in their mind.
In our road-map, we are working on making it possible for users to track both image and surfaces and to start AR experiences based on gps coordinates, which will make it even more powerful.
I hope this makes sense and answered your question.
1. can I upload my own picture/design, and it will transform it into AR? or can I only use existing templates, designs, pictures?
I would like to upload my ecommerce t-shirts and share it, so people can see how it & "try" it when they point the camera to someone else. that would be amazing :)
Q: Hi I’m really interested in this offer, I was just wondering I understand the whole scanning a business card ...
or poster however I’m really excited about this in the idea of creating a mini treasure hunt type trail I wonder would it be possible to have the Holo activated by a location instead of a QR code and then a surface type for example a large piece of tree bark or patch of grass?
The standard use case is to add the QR code to your printed material or on a poster at The location. You then scan the QR code and subsequently scan the poster, book, object or other flat item of your choice.
As mentioned we are working on both geolocation and surface tracking which will be available later this year. We unfortunately don't have a fixed date yet.
Q: Hello,
I bought into a similar platform that was here on Appsumo.
I was disappointed to find out an animated GLB that I used on the platform could not have the animation play on iOS.
Here is their support response: we checked and yes, unfortunately, the issue is caused by the conversion from glb to usdz, which is automatically done when you open an experience on iOS. The Apple native format doesn't support this animation and that's the reason why your model is "stuck".
Would your platform be plagued by this same problem?
The reason for this is that many other platforms use Apple's and Google's standard AR web viewer which needs them to convert to usdz. Or they use an app which runs ARKit or ARcore native, which we do not do. With Hololink you get a 100% web-based platform which runs on our own algorithms. Therefore we support .GLB 100% and all animations will work. We can guarantee that. You ca even add a .GLB with mulitple animations and choose between them in the editor, so that you can have the same model in mulitple scenes, playing different animations in each one.
We do have the one restriction that you need to upload models to our platform in .GLB or zipped .GLTF format. But they will always work.
I would like to suggest that you jump into the editor at https://editor.hololink.io for a test run. This is free and you can try out your models there before deciding whether to purchase a license.
I hope this answered your question. Feel free to ask again if something is unclear.
I understand your platform does, as does the other Web AR platform.
The problem is iOS does not support some or all animated AR models. According to that other platform: issue is caused by the conversion from glb to usdz, which is automatically done when you open an experience on iOS. The Apple native format doesn't support this animation and that's the reason why your model is "stuck".
Is it fair to assume the same conversion would take place with models on Hololink resulting in the loss of animation?
I picked up a code to give it a shot. I am pleased that my animated glb plays just fine. That's awesome.
But it was unexpected that audio included in a scene would not play on my iphone if I had the ringer set to silent via the switch. Other audio (Spotify) and any videos I watch while the ringer is in silent still play the audio just fine. But the hololink required me to take my phone off silent in order to hear the audio. I don't feel that is a normal expectation for a recipient to know and I would have to provide instructions to "make sure your phone isn't on silent". Kind of clunky.
Support indicated this was due to heavy restrictions by Apple in playing music from a browser. But I can browse to a website with audio embedded in the pages and play that audio from the browser just fine while the switch is on silent. So, I don't understand why there couldn't be some sort of mechanism to allow it for the hololink.
So far I'm more impressed than with the other AR tool I picked up. I'll be really happy when you have other triggers like surface and geolocation. We could really use this for corporate meetings and events that we plan for clients. I could see scavenger hunts, special event information made available by scanning into a hololink, there are all sorts of uses we could come up with.
Q: hi,
Any live samples of what this looks like so I can see it on my phone?
In these links that you posted in a reply i got only advertising and spam https://storage.googleapis.com/60e72492c925554de541fd93/hololink/6246aba063d369fb4a91fcb6/hololink-published.pdf https://storage.googleapis.com/60e72492c925554de541fd93/hololink/62389b739724d4c946d58fde/hololink-published.pdf https://storage.googleapis.com/60e72492c925554de541fd93/hololink/614c8ab6e675d059bf672850/hololink-published.pdf
"1 active white-label Hololink(s) " What does it means? can i use a personal link with multiple project like multiple treasure hunting? I meant I can create a flow for my treasure hunting step by step with the same personal link? I meant can I Design meaningful AR experiences by making them interactive step by step
I want my client use the personal link for treasure hunting without install a app or use qrcode, is it possible to ask our client to go on our personal link bought on hololink inquadrate a image or monument and see the AR object and if answer right to a question can to move on? thanks for reply
I'm afraid that I do not understand why you see advertising and spam in the links I have sent. I have tested them multiple times and they work perfectly.
The links each contain a pdf. Each pdf contains a QR code that you have to scan and an image target that you scan after scanning the QR code. This is the AR experience that you see by scanning the image. Do you not get the QR code and target image when following the links? They lead directly to our google storage.
Can I ask you to try them again to see if maybe something has gone wrong on your end? Thank you.
As for your questions: 1 white label hololink is the ability for you to serve an AR experience on your own URL. Additionally you can set up the loading screen and the page name so that they have the colour, images and texts that you want. This means that you can set up an AR experience that has your branding, your look and your language without it being apparent that it has been created with Hololink.
You can create a treasure hunt flow with one link, or you can choose to use several links. This depends on how you envision your treasure hunt. We have quite a lot of experience helping people set up treasure hunts and scavenger hunts, both for personal use and for museums, so if you send me some ideas of what it is you are trying to achieve, I'll be happy to share our experience with you. And yes, you can create meaningful experiences that are interactive in eery step.
Your client does not need an app, and indeed we are proudly app-free. But unless they follow a web-link from a website to enter your hololink, they will need to scan a QR code, as this is the way they open the experience. A QR code is basically just a url in visual form that a phone can recognise, so that the user does not need to enter the url manually.
You can then add an image target to any location you want and your client can go there, scan the image and experience the AR. You can then set it up so that they can only go on to the next experience if they answer a question correctly.
So it sounds like your use case is perfect for Hololink!🚀
Hi Jens - I tried that first link and was able to bring up an SUV AR on my phone, from a view above the car. Should I have been able to 360 rotate the car? If so, was not working on my iPhone screen. I could only view from above and change the colour.
No. The car is not animated, so it cannot rotate. It is made for a flyer, so you just rotate your phone around the flyer or rotate the flyer with your hand. You can then change the colour of the car and the colour of the wheels, creating different combinations. so it sounds like you saw it the way it was supposed to be.
All the best
Jens
Q: Why if I stack codes does my storage remain at 5gb!!!
Clearly, if I have 30 white label campaigns I’ll have more items uploaded than if I only buy 1 code.
I think sumos will have a problem with the fact we are paying more but you don’t offer more storage!
Unless we can store the files on another server?
But I feel it’s unfair that a 5 stack will get the same 5gb as 1 stack.
Please consider to increase the storage with this deal.
A: Thanks for buying our AppSumo deal 🙏🙌 The 5 GB storage should be more than enough for even 50 Hololinks - so it’s more like a theoretical limit than something you’ll have problems with. Keep in mind that WebAR experiences are essentially just website with AR, so 30 mb is a lot for a website. If you do manage to max out on that storage, please let me know and we’ll figure something out 🙂
I think that the storage should increase if I’m paying more because there’s no way to have a 3D object be 30 mb and if you have multiple 3D objects in the scene, also it will add up.
My fashion models from clo3d weigh 150mb and that’s without animation.
So if I have 30 campaigns running with multiple scenes and story flow - 5gb won’t be enough.
It just doesn’t make sense why 1 code / tier would receive the same storage limit as the 5 stack. Clearly you have many more models and elements with 30 campaigns.
I suggest you to RE evaluate that with 5 stack we are oaying more and should receive more storage.
I'm sorry to say that the AppSumo deal is locked. But if you go beyond 5gb I'm sure we can figure something out. No worries there.
And then another thing. We often suggest that our users use much smaller 3D models than 150 mb. Preferably smaller than 25 mb. The reason for this is that we serve the content over the internet, and there is a very real risk that the experience will run slowly with very large models. There are many ways in which high-res models can be down-scaled to fill a lot less than 150 mb and still look great. But if this is not an option for you, you may want to look into tools that allow you to build an app that your users can download, containing the models, because any tool that requires users to dynamically download hundreds of mb of data every time they use it will likely cause user friction and long loading times. I'm sorry that we can't help you further with this, but if we can help you in any other way, please don't hesitate to ask.
Q: Actually one solution to the terms and conditions issue is just to allow us to specify the URL to display the T&C.

May 14, 2024A: Thank you. That is a very good and important point. It'll be brought to the developer meeting first thing Monday morning.

Has a timeline been established to get the terms and conditions fixed? Preferably ASAP :)
Thanks much!
Hi,
I am so sorry for nto answering earlier. I don't get notifications from AppSumo now that the campaign is over!
Anyway. Terms & Conditions can now be customised in the editor under:
preview - customize loading screen (tab) - page title.
Thank you for your patience and thank you very much for bringing this up so that we could fix it.
Kind regards

Q: Will we be able to open the QR Code with the VR images on a Chromebook or is this only available for iphone/android?
Also, I bought a code and am attempting to open the codes; it is not working most of the time as the "tap to view" option isn't showing. Suggestions? I've followed the steps provided so that isn't the issue as sometimes it's viewable, but mostly it is not.
Are we able to simple embed the VR images on a website rather than needing a code or is this not a stand-along option for 3d viewing without using a QRcode?
Jens_Hololink
May 14, 2024A: Hi,
Here are answers to your questions. I hope I understand you correctly and otherwise please try to write again. Preferably through the chat widget in the editor. this way I will get a notification and can answer you more quickly :-).
Regarding the QR code:
The QR code is a link to your AR (augmented reality) experience.
I've followed the steps provided so that isn't the issue as sometimes it's viewable, but mostly it is not."
Are you talking about opening the QR code or the AppSumo redemption code? If you try to access a Hololink via the QR code it should work. We have no known issues with that. Could you write to me via the editor chat and tell me which phone and OS you are using? Thank you.
Regarding: "Are we able to simple embed the VR images on a website rather than needing a code or is this not a stand-along option for 3d viewing without using a QRcode?"
This software is for creating AR (augmented reality), not VR (virtual reality). As such the experience needs a device that has a camera so that it can place your creations as a digital layer on top of the real world. So it is not created for embedding your creations on a web site, unless this website is for viewing on a mobile device, where you expect your audience to access the website and then go to an AR experience form there.

Q: VERY important.

Jens_Hololink
May 14, 2024A: Hi Clearstar,
Thank you for the question.

Jens_Hololink
May 14, 2024A: Hi tswconsulting,
1) An active white label hololink is any hololink that is white labeled, i.e. hosted on your unique, personal url, whether it be your own or a clients url.

Q: Hi on your website you say : Remove watermark from 3 projects.
I have some questions
is it possible to delete a project, and therefore to return to zero with regard to hosting, and the deletion of the brand?
Where can I find the visit statistics?
thx :)
Jens_Hololink
May 14, 2024A: Hi Fabalou,
When we write remove watermark from 3 projects, it means that you have 3 white labels available.
Below the team name you see the following four items:
* Hololinks
* Team Members
* Statistics
* Settings.

It would be easier if there was a place in settings to put our CNAMES then just choose them from a dropdown when we publish instead of having to enter it each time
Thanks

May 14, 2024A: Hi,
Thanks for reaching out with some excellent questions.
Have a nice day

Thank you
Jens_Hololink
May 14, 2024A: Hi Ori,
I haver to admit that I'm not completely sure if I understand your question correctly, so if my answer is incomplete or incorrect, please write back with more details.
Kind regards
Jens

Q: I'm very curious about the treasure hunt functionality.
Would I be able to have people go on a multistep journey, with multiple objects and "clues", if I buy the 1 active Whitelabel version? Or would I have to have a unique link for each item across my treasure hunt?
I'm also curious as to your team setup, Software background, and funding situation? Do you have a BIG team? Is this all based on Unity or where do you use as the backend? Will this service survive - Do you have larger backers at this point?
Lastly, who do you think are your biggest competitors? 😊
Jens_Hololink
May 14, 2024A: Hi Sebastian,
We're developing the treasure hunt functionality with user inputs, so the final design is not decided upon yet.
Kind regards
Jens

Q: Is it true that you use vendor locking techniques?
1. A little fairy told me that even though you use WebAR and you seem to be proud of it, when people want to move their work an models to use on their own platform you don't have any option and even refuse to provide these.
Is this true?
2. Also, is it true that you make excuses that are technically innacurate and simply lies in order to avoid people from keeping their work?
Please answer sincerely without politics or salesy talk.
Just real facts.
Jens_Hololink
May 14, 2024A: Hello SumoDavid,
I have to start by saying that I really don't know what you are referring to.
Kind regards
Jens

You are dodging the issue.
How do we download our WebAr projects?
You said we can delete and serve under a domain? Why you talking about this? I am talking about owning our data and taking it all with us...
It was very clear what I was talking about don't pretend we are talking about pointing domain...
Can we export our data or not?
I asked for a non political or sales answer and that's what I got.
Let me put this simply. If we don't want to work with Hololink at some point in the future how do we export our work and host it ourselves?
Q: Hello How do you compare to Aryel, an AR experience building platform that was on appsumo a while ago?
I noticed that Aryel is much more mature and offers over 5 different types of AR, like facial, surface, geolocation, marker based, etc.
What about your platform? How many different type of AR experiences you offer and would love to go into a detail comparison between both your platform and Aryel.
Thanks
Jens_Hololink
May 14, 2024A: Hello,
That is a good question. 🙂
Hololink is based on our own tracking algorithms, which get better every week thanks to our advanced computer-vision training.
It is true that we currently only support image tracking, but we are currently working on:
* surface tracking
* wayfinding/geo-location
* tracking on curved surfaces and objects
Have a great weekend
Jens

Will you launch the surface tracking first?
Hi 360Fashion,
I'm afraid that I don't have a time-line for surface tracking right now, so whether that is the first extended tracking we launch, I can't say for sure. I can say that either surface og geo-tracking will be first and that surface will be before object and face tracking.
I'm sorry I can't be more specific right now.

Q: 1.
Can you do AR like Livshows.com
I take jpg files (up to 10) and can drag and drop them to the stage to create an exhibition.
You can try it here: http://ar.roboticdress.com
I have never found anyone who can do what they do without coding.
2. I find it crazy expensive only allowing ONE white label AR fir $59. That’s kind of crazy and not at all a deal. I request that you increase it. Even livshows gives you 10 white label for $80
Jens_Hololink
May 14, 2024A: Hi 360Fashion,

I hope you would consider to sweeten the deal.
Happy to help ✌️
I guess we’re in the same category as 8th wall, but with two main differences:
1. Hololink is much cheaper than 8th wall, so you can target smaller brands (their cheapest plan for a launched campaign starts at around $1.000)
You can see a full overview of our standard pricing on hololink.io
🙂🙌

After the AppSumo deal closes, you can always buy more active white labeled Hololinks for a monthly price. This cost should be off-loaded to your clients, so shouldn’t be a problem. You can see a full overview of our standard pricing on hololink.io

HI, just to clarify, you can do the same thing Livshows can do you said, but you don't do surface tracking. So right now with livshows, I send a link to someone, they open it on their phone, the phone sees where is the floor, and snaps the objects to the floor.
That is not possible with your service, right?
Hi 360Fashion,
And sorry for not answering at once.

Jens_Hololink
May 14, 2024A: Hello,
We currently only support .glb and .gltf models in the editor and you cannot edit the 3D within the editor, other than resizing and positioning.

Here is a link to a quick demo:
https://youtu.be/19dTV4l7YS0
You can add anything to a business card. It can be any 3D model with animations, or maybe a video. You can also add as many links as you want and add Calls To Action, prompting the viewer to interact with the card and sending them to web-sites or other AR experiences.
The flow is that the customer takes your card and scans the QR code on it, and then keeps scanning the card to see the experience. They do not need to download an app, so the experience is seamless.
Hope that helps! 🙌

Could you give more info of you have?
Anything with dwg files editing auto 3d etc?
Any contractor customer yet?
Q: All the examples create models that seem anchored relative to the phone screen.
I want to try creating a series of experiences that are anchored only to the architecture of the space. Is this possible?
Jens_Hololink
May 14, 2024A: Hi,
We currently only support image tracking, where the experience is anchored to an image.

Jens

Q: hi there, this app looks really great!
I have some questions though
1. can I upload my own picture/design, and it will transform it into AR? or can I only use existing templates, designs, pictures?
I would like to upload my ecommerce t-shirts and share it, so people can see how it & "try" it when they point the camera to someone else.
that would be amazing :)

Q: Hi I’m really interested in this offer, I was just wondering I understand the whole scanning a business card ...
or poster however I’m really excited about this in the idea of creating a mini treasure hunt type trail I wonder would it be possible to have the Holo activated by a location instead of a QR code and then a surface type for example a large piece of tree bark or patch of grass?
Jens_Hololink
May 14, 2024A: Hi,
I just want to add some additional information.
Have a nice Day.

Q: Hello, I bought into a similar platform that was here on Appsumo.
I was disappointed to find out an animated GLB that I used on the platform could not have the animation play on iOS.
Here is their support response:
we checked and yes, unfortunately, the issue is caused by the conversion from glb to usdz, which is automatically done when you open an experience on iOS. The Apple native format doesn't support this animation and that's the reason why your model is "stuck".
Would your platform be plagued by this same problem?
Jens_Hololink
May 14, 2024A: Hi,
The reason for this is that many other platforms use Apple's and Google's standard AR web viewer which needs them to convert to usdz.
Regards
Jens

Hello there 👋
Hololink supports animated 3D models in GLB files format.
You can upload GLTF files if you .zip the files. 🙂
Verified purchaser
I understand your platform does, as does the other Web AR platform.
The problem is iOS does not support some or all animated AR models. According to that other platform:
issue is caused by the conversion from glb to usdz, which is automatically done when you open an experience on iOS.

Q: hi, Any live samples of what this looks like so I can see it on my phone?

"1 active white-label Hololink(s) " What does it means? can i use a personal link with multiple project like multiple treasure hunting? I meant I can create a flow for my treasure hunting step by step with the same personal link?
I meant can I Design meaningful AR experiences by making them interactive step by step
I want my client use the personal link for treasure hunting without install a app or use qrcode, is it possible to ask our client to go on our personal link bought on hololink inquadrate a image or monument and see the AR object and if answer right to a question can to move on?
thanks for reply

May 14, 2024A: Hi Leonardo,
I'm afraid that I do not understand why you see advertising and spam in the links I have sent.
Thank you.
As for your questions:
1 white label hololink is the ability for you to serve an AR experience on your own URL.

Hi AJ,
Lucas_Hololink
May 14, 2024A: Thanks for buying our AppSumo deal 🙏🙌
The 5 GB storage should be more than enough for even 50 Hololinks - so it’s more like a theoretical limit than something you’ll have problems with.
Keep in mind that WebAR experiences are essentially just website with AR, so 30 mb is a lot for a website.
If you do manage to max out on that storage, please let me know and we’ll figure something out 🙂

I didn’t buy it yet.
Hi,
I'm sorry to say that the AppSumo deal is locked.
Regards
Jens
