Hi, could you pls give me estimates regarding events number? What is counted as an event? For marketing purposes we track many events per session, and for site with lets say 100 000 monthly sessions it can be 2-3 milion marketing analytics events including the bot traffic. Are the log events estimated in the same amount?

For events we mean all the single log rows you send us, not the normal analytics “Javascript events”. So if you send us only the pageviews, then it’s exactly that number. But the logs typically include other stuff that is sometimes useless like images visits, scripts, css loaded: you can exclude them in sending so you only scope this down to pageviews. Best thing...
Is there a whitelist or blocklist that can block specific bad bots and also prevent bots that we setup? I use better uptime for monitoring my website, so I don’t want to see them in the logs. Or rather, don’t need to.

Ciao Lorenzo, I am having a little trouble setting this up. Since, I use Dorik, and Hostgator, is Cloudflare necessary? Also, some context of using the applications would help, since it is not clear. What is the purpose of connecting it to a cdn? How is it configured(not the instructions for Honeylog, but the actual cdn), and what are the requirements for using the cdn if we are using another platform?

A: Sure, I’m happy to assist: do you use Hostgator as Server, and have Nginx/Apache as server?
CDN is not mandatory: it’s just one of the ways to send the logs to us, but you can send them even through the server itself. Basically you can configure any CDN or server to send logs to HoneyLog and our tool analyzes them.

I use hostgator for hosting and domain registration. This is a different from Dorik itself. I use hostgator hosting for testing.

You don’t need MCP: the tool has a dashboard, and the data can be consulted from there, or also through API/MCP if needed.
