Q: Site is beautiful but is the company sustainable?

The UI/UX alone is wonderful. Great job there but I have to ask about the financials. What's the runway on your product? Investing now feels risky, without understanding how long the company can stay in business while it builds a customer base. I've gone through your reddit and producthunt and didn't see much traction but you're less than a month old, so it makes sense. Would love to understand more about the financial stability of the product.

A: Hey, really fair question, and I'd rather answer it straight than dance around it.

Hoursmith is bootstrapped. Just me, no investors, no funding round, no exit timeline I'm trying to hit. I've been building software since 2012, it's the only thing I've ever done for a living, and Hoursmith isn't a side bet I'm testing before moving on to the next idea. I'm not going anywhere because this is the work, not a startup I'm trying to flip.

On the money side, there's barely any overhead to run this. The 5 paying customers I have right now already cover hosting and infrastructure, so it's not running on a clock counting down to zero. There's no monthly burn I'm racing against. Worst case, it just keeps running quietly the way it does today.

And I should mention, I use Hoursmith myself. I run my own Shopify and web development client work through it, time tracking and invoicing included. This isn't software I built to sell and walk away from. It's the tool I depend on to get paid for my own client work. If it breaks, I'm the first person it breaks for.

You're right that traction looks thin on Reddit and Product Hunt. That's accurate, and it's because I'm solo and hadn't put real effort into marketing before the Product Hunt launch, which only went live recently. That's a fair gap to flag and I won't pretend otherwise.

One more thing worth knowing: Hoursmith has a full REST API, so your data was never locked in to begin with. You can pull every client, project, invoice, and time entry out whenever you want. That's true today, not a promise for later.

Thanks again for asking directly, I'd much rather you have the real picture.
