Bait and switch 🎣

When I saw hubstaff joined AS I was overjoyed and couldn't wait to try it out. I knew they had some great time tracking features, so signed straight up with a full stack! Handed over my money, signed up, downloaded the apps and then started clicking around.

That's when I noticed things didn't seem quite right. When clicking around the dashboard in the Time app there were upsells everywhere. You literally could not click on a menu item and be confident if it was going to work, or be locked off with a prompt to upgrade. Not only is it a poor experience, but it's completely confusing.

I raised the concern in the comments section in an attempt to figure out what was going wrong, but since then things have taken a turn for the worse, so I'm formalising the frustration with a review.

A lot of the replies in the comments section are copy-pasted, and seem confused at best. The general theme seems to be that Hubstaff are trying to sell Tasks with a teaser of Time as a way to get you into their eco-system and then upsell you on a plan. In some comments they say that if you have more than 7 users then you can add more for $10 a pop, whereas in other comments they say that you're forfeit your AS plan and have to pay for all 8+ at $10 each.

Firstly, a cap of 7 users is poor value compared to other deals, but it's what happened later that really upsetting.

The plan I purchased was completely changed, and a range of features were removed from the deal. Those listed include:
- Unlimited screenshots
- Activity levels
- Per user settings
- Track apps and URLs
- Mobile GPS tracking

TL;DR: Last night I dropped $350 on a full stack. Numerous people, including myself were hoping that they would upgrade the number of users included in the Time plan. Instead, when I wake up the next morning I find out they've completely nerfed the account, and all the features I paid for. The name of the deal even changed to 'Hubstaff Tasks'...

I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed and feel like I've been screwed over by the company within the first 24hrs. Not at all the way I was hoping to feel after purchasing this.
