Q: It says I have to set my microphone to IRIS.

So, lets say I am using my laptop. I have a BLUE YETI Microphone. If I set my mic to IRIS...will it take the audio from the crappy laptop mic or through the YETI mic?

A: Hi Chandril, thanks for reaching out!

If you connect an external device and select that as your microphone output, IRIS Clarity will be applied to that audio.

Hey Chandril, just to clarify, you'll need to set the IRIS Clarity app microphone input to BLUE YETI, and then the audio input on your conference call apps (e.g. Zoom, Google Meet) to IRIS. Then, as Tatjana said, IRIS Clarity will be applied to your BLUE YETI mic. If you need more info on how to do this, check out these two videos here:

1. https://support.iris.audio/knowledge/how-to-launch => set up BLUE YETI as your audio input in the Clarity app
2. https://support.iris.audio/knowledge/how-to-use-iris-clarity-with-zoom => set up IRIS as your audio input in Zoom (or Google Meet, Teams, etc.)

Any other questions, let us know!

I am bit confused here. So there is only one option for input audio (mic) to select on the settings of MS Team (for example). If I choose it to be IRIS CLARITY then where am I telling the computer to pick the sound from my BLUE YETI and not the default mic of poorer quality?

Second question, can I use IRIS CLARITY if I am recording a podcast using my mic and laptop (not using MS TEAM/ZOOM or any such apps) - just using plain audio recorder app on the laptop?

Hey Chandril, see me earlier response to Tatjana's message to address the first part of your follow up question.

As for the podcast question, you can indeed filter the audio through IRIS Clarity — just select IRIS as your audio input. In general, if you can change the audio input/output in the programme you're using, you can route it through IRIS Clarity. šŸŽ‰
