Powerful, flexible, and a founder who actually answers - with some rough edges
I’ve been setting up and testing KeyShift for a few weeks on Windows 11 (v1.7.2), plus the new Android app (v1.0.1), and I upgraded to Tier 3 because I plan to use it heavily on a second computer. Here’s the honest picture.
What I like:
Custom actions and a custom AI prompt. I built about 30 actions in Spanish for my businesses (fix writing, reply to clients, format for WhatsApp, cost calculators) and each one is a shortcut away. This is the real value.
“Review before inserting” lets me check the result before it replaces my text.
Credits are transparent and cheap in practice. Short actions cost about 1 credit, just as the founder describes.
Bring-your-own-key and local model support, so sensitive text can stay on my machine.
Workflows work well, and the founder confirmed they’re in Tier 2 without a price increase.
Support is excellent. I reported a bug, and the founder investigated and replied within a day, with a clear test to run. Updates ship every few weeks.
My custom actions sync to the Android keyboard.
What needs work:
Some secondary windows (feedback, new action, prompt context) open behind the main window and don’t come to the front when clicked.
The window opens small on every launch.
Localization is incomplete in Spanish: the tray menu, trigger descriptions, “Check” button in About, “Quick Actions”, and the “1 of 4” tour counter are still in English.
On one occasion the Markdown action cut its output mid-name when the text came from Windows Notepad, while the same text worked from a browser. I’ve reported it with my tests.
The Android app is fully in English with no interface language option. Its feedback box doesn’t scroll to follow the cursor while typing, and the keyboard lacks autocorrect and accelerated delete.
Built-in modes can’t be edited or removed, and I’d love to choose which mode the double-space trigger runs.
Verdict: a genuinely useful tool with a responsive founder. Most issues are polish, not missing core features, and I expect it to keep improving.

Oct 9, 2026Thank you for such a detailed review and for the bug reports on Featurebase. They helped a lot.
Status: the windows opening behind, the small launch size, the Spanish strings you listed and the Notepad cut-off are all fixed and ship in the next desktop update. On Android, the feedback box scrolling and faster delete are fixed too. Spanish interface for Android is on the list.
Choosing the action for double-space is a good idea and I want to add it. Autocorrect is off on purpose for now while I tune the keyboard feel.
Thanks again for testing on both platforms.
