Q: Hey Team, I really need a real time transcription in a virtual and hybrid meeting environment.

The solution that Otter.ai offers for that works really well.

With the app on the phone I can record and transcribe everything that is said in real time and see it in the browser on my document in the desktop. This works even when the phone switches the display off and locks itself.

Are you planning to introduce such a solution in the near future? Of course I can record the audio from my phone and upload it later. But that takes away the possibility to look back on the conversation and copy out important points as the meeting progresses.

Please let me know if you are planning to go into that direction in the near future. If not, then unfortunately your solution will not work for my use case, even though I love your product a lot.

A: Thank you for your question! I replied to your direct message through our App but I just wanted to also place my response here in case anyone else is interested.
The short answer to your question is: not in the near future. But I do want to spend some time elaborating on why we chose to focus more on the meetings side of things than just the transcription (like Otter.ai). In the early stages of Knowtworthy, we were actually just focused on transcription and dynamically extracting things like agenda and action items from speech. But as we progressed and spoke to more users and held more focus groups on why teams have ineffective meetings, we learned that a lack of structure and high team friction were the two main issues prevalent throughout the business world. To solve the issue of structure, we created an intuitive agenda tool and meeting minutes document to help teams run every meeting well, and we found that the value individuals received from this exceeded that of a collection of transcripts, as more often than not the transcripts weren't really referred to nearly as often as the minutes were after a meeting.

All of this is not to say that we won't be pursuing a more in-depth transcription solution in the future. As I mentioned, the second pillar of ineffective meetings is team friction and we've experimented with individualized sentiment analysis reports to help team members better understand how they are contributing to their teams overall, and are planning on integrating this feature in full to Knowtworthy later on. This will come with an improved transcription experience as well since accurate transcription is key to great sentiment analysis. The great thing about a lifetime license is that you'll always have access to new features as they roll out, though!

So while we are planning on introducing a more feature-rich transcription experience later on, I did want to be honest about the fact that we are focusing more on the meeting structure and performance aspect of the meeting inefficiency problem at the moment. Thanks again for reaching out, and I'm glad you liked our product!
