Very Promising at First Glance, but Turns Out Unusable

Kudra promises you a lot but actually delivers very little.

Most important: the AI OCR and AI parsing seem to be quite expensive. With hundreds/thousands of LTD users, will the company operate sustainably?

- Most of their template AI "models" are just OpenAI prompts which you can't even see or modify.

- You must use your own ChatGPT key to use Kudra. The AI models working without the key are pretty useless (unless you're doing accounting or very niche tasks).

- Even when you use your own ChatGPT key, the platform still limits you on the number of pages you can parse per month. There's no sense in this since you're spending your money on parsing. We should have unlimited parsing when using our own key.

- Post-processing options are very limited.

- The AI models and their usage are unclear. For example, the "Email Parser" model. What does it do? There's zero indication. Does it parse emails? Nope. Why does it have an OCR engine? Does it extract email addresses from PDFs? Possibly? The fields list is odd: ORG, CARDINAL, LAW, GPE, MONEY, etc. How is it related to email parsing?

- Bug: When you create a workflow (which are VERY limited - max 5 on the highest tier) and use the ChatGPT block, it doesn't allow you to add a prompt.

- When you add your Google account, the popup from Google says that the app you are using is not secure and suggests not to continue.

Overall, I had the impression that the founders simply added low-quality publicly available free AI models that don't work as expected, and are connected to ChatGPT, which you can only use with your key. Therefore, it's quite pointless since you can directly use ChatGPT or Open Interpreter locally on your laptop for the same parsing tasks.

Sorry, I don't see much value in Kudra at the moment...

Hi Mehdi,

We are very sorry that you were not able to leverage Kudra's powerful document-processing features.

We do recognize that the app has a steep learning curve and we are working actively to make the onboarding as seamless as possible.

Thank you for raising these concerns and I do want to address each one in detail:

1) Concern 1: "- Most of their template AI "models" are just OpenAI prompts which you can't even see or modify."

This is unfortunately not correct. Most of our 20+ pre-trained AI templates (invoice, receipts, ID, Contract Analysis, W-2, W-9, etc.) are not OpenAI-based but rather deep learning models trained on large amounts of data achieving 90-95% extraction accuracy on their respective document type.

2) Concern 2: "You must use your own ChatGPT key to use Kudra. The AI models working without the key are pretty useless (unless you're doing accounting or very niche tasks)."

Unfortunately, this is incorrect as well. You can use Kudra without chatGPT key. Kudra provides many non-GPT AI services including over 20+ pre-trained AI models, Intelligent table parsing, custom entity extraction out-of-the-box, relationship extraction, and text classification. You can find the full list in our documentation following this link: https://ubiai.gitbook.io/kudra-documentation/getting-started/workflows

3) "- Even when you use your own ChatGPT key, the platform still limits you on the number of pages you can parse per month. There's no sense in this since you're spending your money on parsing. We should have unlimited parsing when using our own key."

This is a valid and reasonable concern: processing a document requires multiple pre-processing steps, such as OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to read the text from PDF and images, pre-processing the input and post-processing the output of GPT for data extraction, storing the data in the database, all requiring costly server resources, which preclude us from offering unlimited document upload even if using your own key. We are working hard to reduce the processing cost so users can process their documents at a cheaper price.

4) "- Post-processing options are very limited."

Please let us know which additional post-processing you would like to add and we will certainly add it. We currently offer most of the standard postprocessing steps found in other IDP solutions, but we will be happy to add more.

5) "The AI models and their usage are unclear. How is it related to email parsing?"

This is a great point, we are actively working on improving our documentation and will take in account this feedback. The email parser uses pre-defined entities but you can add your own relevant entities by using a custom entity extractor for accurate identification.

6) "- Bug: When you create a workflow (which are VERY limited - max 5 on the highest tier) and use the ChatGPT block, it doesn't allow you to add a prompt."

We will certainly investigate, it could be a browser-type issue but users should be able to add their prompt (Here is an example: https://share.zight.com/DOuEwlR7) and even chain multiple GPTs to create powerful workflows.

7) "- When you add your Google account, the popup from Google says that the app you are using is not secure and suggests not to continue."

We are currently working with Google to complete the verification as soon as possible. It should hopefully be completed within the next week.

I understand the frustration of not being able to leverage Kudra's full potential but most of the concerns raised are due to misunderstanding of how the app works and not related to the app's performance. We are working on making the self-onboarding as smooth as possible to reduce the learning curve.

If you would like to give Kudra another try, we will be happy to provide you free access along with a live 1:1 onboarding meeting.

Cheers,

Walid
