Solid Directory Plugin With Room to Improve the UI

Hello, I wanted to take a moment to share my experience with Listdom. I hesitated a little before purchasing the plugin, so I took time to read online reviews and watch several YouTube videos before deciding.

After installing it, I’m happy to say the plugin is working well on my site. I have not had any compatibility issues with my Astra theme, and overall, I really like the plugin. The pagination works great, the listings display nicely, and most importantly, the plugin feels solid and not buggy.

For context, my setup includes the free Listdom plugin, the Pro Add-on, Excel Importer, and Bridge Add-on.

That said, I do think there is room to improve the usability and organization of the settings. Some areas were a bit confusing for me, especially the General settings, Customizer, Single Listing options, category styles, and style settings. The gear icons for elements seem to lead to different options, but there is not much explanation about what each setting controls.

I also had trouble finding where to manage the social share icons for the shortcodes I created. It would be very helpful to have clearer global settings, along with more shortcode-level controls to enable or disable specific elements depending on how each shortcode is being used.

I would also love to see more flexibility with the import option. It would be very helpful to have the ability to import listings as drafts only, instead of publishing them right away. This would give users more control to review, edit, and clean up imported listings before making them live on the site.

The sorting options within the shortcodes also feel a bit limited. Another feature I would love to see is a simple “back to listings” option after someone clicks into an individual listing. Currently, the breadcrumbs take users back to Home or to the listing category, but not necessarily back to the main listing page created with the shortcode.

Even with these challenges, I am giving Listdom 5 stars because the plugin itself is solid. It works well, it is compatible with Astra, and once the listings or resources are displayed, the result looks very good. It reminds me of another directory plugin I used, but Listdom has been a much better fit for my current setup.

I do recommend this plugin. The company has clearly put effort into documentation and features, and I hope they continue improving the user interface, shortcode controls, and style options. I will also reach out to support to ask how I can manage the social share icons within different shortcodes, since I may want them displayed in some areas but not others.

Maybe I need to enable the Business Directory Tool Kit to see if I have more control over the elements that I have but this review is based on the tools I have installed and tested so far.

Overall, Listdom is a strong plugin. Definitely love how beautiful my listings are displaying. So, yes I do recommend this plugin! I found it by chance here in Appsume when I typed "directory" I am a bit surprised it doesn't more visibility!
