I like what I hear. In business 9 years and multiple scrapers. Are we grandfathered into this price if we purchase this each year? Will all updates be included? Are there any charges that you didn't mention? Are there any risks involved when scraping data. Thank you in advance for answering my questions.
Grant_LocalScraperThanks for the questions! You can continue your subscription at this price point for as long as you like. It's not offered on the website but it can be arranged without a problem. Updates are always included with every subscription, so long as you are a customer you have access to the latest program versions and fixes.
As for extra costs there are none on our end for the program, but since you are data scraping you will probably need proxies or at least a VPN. Each scraper is different and requires different ways to scrape it. If you were just targeting Google Maps using its 2 scrapers in the program you could use no proxies or a simple VPN they have very little security for how the program works. If instead you were targeting Home Advisor they have higher security so special proxies are required. A lot of this is discussed on the programs ReadMe page, it's too much to explain all of the scrapers here. The proxies we do recommend start at $15/mo, most VPNs are about $3.50/mo so it really depends on your project, budget, and time frame. Multi-threaded scraping would also require proxies.
The main risk you would have is if you were scraping a site with no proxies or vpn. They can temp block your IP or even permanently block your IP address to stop you. I have never had a customer with an issue, and I recommend proxy or vpn protection just in case. But it shouldn't be a problem so long as you follow our advice.
When in doubt we ask customers email us so we can tell them the best route to take, proxies we recommend for their project/needs.
