🚀 What is Logically?

You might remember us as Afforai. We rebranded to Logically in early 2025 because our product has grown a lot since we started in 2023. Logically is your all-in-one AI workspace to help you research, cite, and write faster with AI. We built it for researchers, writers, consultants, lawyers, office workers, and students who need to do citation-backed research, manage references, review literature, annotate PDFs, and write great papers.

⁉️ Why did we built Logically?

I created Logically because it’s the tool I wish I’d had in college. I was juggling Zotero, ChatGPT, Google Docs, Adobe Acrobat, Jenni AI… it was a mess! So I thought, why not build something that brings all those tools together, but at a price students and researchers can actually afford?

💡 Why This Deal?

We’re back for Black Friday mainly to give our existing LTD users a chance to upgrade their tier, welcome new users, and to introduce the new yearly add-on plan. This add-on gives access to reasoning AI models and lets you purchase extra unlimited seats for your team, as request by LTD users. We worked closely with AppSumo to make sure this new structure is sustainable for everyone, so we can run the platform long term.

As you know, my team and I show our commitment to supporting our users by launching a product update once a month, every month. We are proud we have never broken this streak, ever.

I want to take time today to share with you all the new features I have planned for Afforai in the next few months, based on the many suggestions and feedback from our users on Afforai Community.

Every bullet point is an entire project in of itself. It’s a big undertaking so please understanding we can’t give a timeline just yet. But our commitment to continue improving Afforai is clear. Always.

With the AppSumo campaign ending in 6 days, my team and I will then return to active coding mode, actively enhancing the product throughout the next few months but I will continue monitor the Afforai Community, and regularly take time out to personally do customer support. I love interacting with y’all!!

In the old Lifetime deals last year, we used to have the credits system and it was used for 3 things:

- File upload processing
- Al usage inside Afforai
- Al usage outside Afforai via APIBut since we updated our subscription plans back in April, we worked with the AppSumo team to update our LTD plans to honor the agreement that all LTD users will get updates matched to our Pro Subscription Plan.With this updated LTD plans, all T1, T2, T3 LTD users get UNLIMITED queries or AI usage inside Afforai  that was not being the case in the old LTD plans last time. We’ve also made file uploading credits gone, Al usage credits gone. Meaning there’s no more credits costs for uploading files and chatting with Al in Afforai. Its’s now unlimited (with a caveat of our Fair Use policy to prevent system abuse). This is better for Sumo-lings, not worse.The ONLY activity that will cost credits is for API usage. So we now renamed the general credits to be exclusively API credits. API endpoint is mainly for developers wanting to use our Afforai Al services outside the platform. Such as to create a custom AI chatbot on their website. For normal researchers using Afforai, this is irrelevant.Here’s the part that a small population of Afforai LTD users are upset that I’ll be transparent about.
The old system used to be certain amount of API credits, renewable each month. Our new API credits system is per package, it will never expires until you decide to use the credits.I hope to communicate to Sumo-lings to understand clearly that the changes made there was NOT a reduction in limits compared to the last deal. The changes made were based on the product updates and were not as an attempt to reduce any offerings.Here’re some notable upgrades I want to highlight in honor of our hard work:
- Tier 2 and Tier 3 LTD users now get access to advanced AI models which includes GPT-4, Claude Sonnet. And now also added the new GPT-4o model (for Tier 2 and Tier 3)
- New library team collaboration features for all tier 1, 2, and 3 users
- New Afforai Notebook to annotate and take notes on your files for all tier 1, 2, and 3 users
- New chat with images with your files with Afforai Notebook for all tier 1, 2, and 3 users
- No more chatbots limit. Meaning you can create unlimited chatbots for all tiers.
- Increased GB storage for all tier 1, 2, and 3 usersWe’ve added so many more features and improvements to reflect us narrowing the focus of our Afforai platform to serve researchers’ needs and not be a generic AI chatbot tool. I choose to see this as a good thing when a startup narrowing down the focus to do one thing very well vs doing many things mediocrely.

I’m Alec, co-founder of Afforai. With numerous requests from Sumolings, my team and I have decided to bring Afforai back to AppSumo for a VERY limited time this Black Friday 2024.

But this will likely be our final launch on AppSumo. My team and I are returning to AppSumo to express our gratitude.
