Returning red flag

In short what has went down since the last deal:
- buy your own key and API was removed months later without any compensation
- the platform was on sale months later to find a new owner, which usually means ltd holders will not be taken over
- buyers of ltd licences through logically themselves and not appsumo have gotten their accounts sacked without prior warning and only compensation is credits for not even a year of usage as can be seen in ken moo Facebook group
- the founder and team has gotten super quiet after the hype and updates were delayed or non existent
- new llm models have just been introduced for this deal, even though the last half year with many new models, they didn't get updated, nor has the switch been made to more capable and less pricey models to give better productivity to users and less money spend on logically part

Stay away, they have done several 180s within a mere year. They are not to be trusted.
The founder might be coming across honest and outright now, which he was before every deal on appsumo, but he has since always done a 180 affecting the product or customer negatively.

- even if BYOK is unsustainable for you, it was part of the features I bought the deal for, the same with API. As that's the assurance we buyers had that even when you wouldn't update the models (what you didn't for a mere year even though there have been several big jumps in capabilities of newer versions of LLMs) we would be able to use the newest model through open router. It is a sustainability and capability decision on the part of us users that was taken without prior consultation.
- contractors of appsumo have come forward in the ken moo group explaining that appsumo has not advised you to one sidely stop fulfilling your contractual obligation of ltd plans bought outside of appsumo. Which leaves the only possibility, you fraudulently terminate a contract that has been paid for and give not even a year worth of credits to your own customers, whereas third party customers, honoured through appsumo have the luck to not get their plans terminated. Someone who buys lifetime, pays for it, gets downgraded to a mere year credit use. How do you think that is fair or even legally correct? Because it isn't. Both parties (customer, you) have contractual obligations which you out of money need terminated one sidely. Who tells us you don't do it again with appsumo customers?
-the updates of LLMs came with the campaign pop up for this appsumo campaign. You haven't touched the models for a mere year, letting users use old models with less capabilities than they get elsewhere. You just updated the platform for this appsumo campaign. That's dishonest, and a point that concedes with the BYOK decision from above.
- you haven't even spent the time to adjust dashboards for all old tiers and the new campaign. Everybody now gets shown the new tier limits even though they are on higher limits of older deals. How lazy can a company be, or deceptive hoping one would jump to buy a higher tier again as the limits have been decreased.

My advise stays, get a monthly plan if you need the tool. Lifetime will over long or short not be honoured anyways or terminated for whatever reasons as we've seen in the past. So you only spend 13 bucks instead of ten times more for broken promises and excuses of a pretty young CEO. Which shows.

Hi peceofphil 👋

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We understand that changes to features and the platform over time can be frustrating, and we appreciate your perspective.

We want to clarify a few points:

- BYOK and API usage: BYOK was removed because a very small percentage of users actively used it, making it unsustainable to maintain. This was communicated where possible, and the decision ensures the platform can continue to operate and improve for the majority of users.

- Pre-AppSumo LTD accounts: Accounts purchased directly through Logically that conflicted with AppSumo’s operational structure had to be adjusted. Affected users were issued account credits so they retain value, as cash refunds were not possible due to the age and terms of the original purchases. This was not related to any sale or ownership change—it was an internal decision to align legacy accounts with sustainable operations.

- LTD plan benefits: All AppSumo LTD users continue to have access to their originally purchased plan features. Optional add-ons, like the reasoning AI models, were added to give users additional choice and do not remove or reduce any existing benefits.

- AI model updates: Standard and advanced AI models, including GPT-5.1, have been recently updated and are included for all LTD users according to their tier. The reasoning AI models are a separate add-on designed for power users and to cover the high costs of providing cutting-edge reasoning capabilities.

We know that some of these decisions can feel abrupt, but they are made to ensure the platform remains sustainable, continues to improve, and provides long-term value for both early supporters and new users. Our founder, Alec, actually made a short video explaining the vision, updates, and our commitment to early supporters: https://youtu.be/k6X1hCZKlc8?si=YiSlMC6GVdCnvmDC

We value your feedback and your support, and we continue to focus on building a platform that researchers can rely on.
