No real API. Check that before you buy.

I bought this to replace Mailchimp in a PHP application. The forms, the list management and the broadcast sending all work well, and I had a real campaign built and delivered to my inbox inside an hour. If you run a normal website and you want popups, landing pages and a newsletter you send by hand, this is a good deal and you will be happy.

So I mapped it myself. The good news is the key does authenticate against a real API and quite a lot works: reading sites, reading and creating lists, reading contacts, reading a broadcast with its stats, and replacing a broadcast's subject, sender and full HTML body.

The bad news is the single most important call is missing. There is no endpoint to add a contact. Every plausible route returns a 404. That is the one thing almost any integration needs. Your own Zapier app has a "Create New Contact" action, so the endpoint exists internally, it is just not available to me.

So this thing does have some potential and I'm not going to ask for a refund just yet. I wish them luck with their sales, but if the API can't add contacts, then this is totally useless for most of us. Perhaps it's work in progress. In which case I'd give this a solid 4 tacos after all.

WHO SHOULD BUY THIS

You run one or a few of your own sites, you want good looking forms and landing pages, and you will write and send your campaigns in the dashboard. Great value.

WHO SHOULD NOT

You need to push signups into it from your own code. You need to send campaigns on a schedule your application controls. You are building for multiple clients who must not share a contact list. Test all of that inside the refund window, because none of it is documented and you will not find out until you try.

Hi HonestSumo, thank you for such a thorough and honest review. We really appreciate the time you put into testing everything so thoroughly.

On the API front, what you found is what currently powers our Zapier integration. A public API isn't available yet. It's something we're actively looking into, and we'll be sure to announce it here once it's live.

A Capable Marketing Platform with Solid Foundations

Disclaimer: I'm a paid product tester for AppSumo and received this tool for free to provide a detailed review. My opinions are entirely my own, and my compensation is not tied to the rating or taco score I give.

During our testing, MailMunch delivered a clean, intuitive experience with a drag-and-drop builder, AI-assisted content tools, landing pages, forms, email automation, analytics, and email validation, and our tester rated usability and stability highly.

We did identify several testing-stage gaps, including inconsistent save behavior with no version history or rollback, AI text regeneration that did not preserve formatting, and the lack of a tablet/device preview in the editor. The Partner clarified that campaigns already autosave, attributed the formatting behavior to the underlying Unlayer editor, and said it would work on adding the additional device preview. We also flagged an inaccurate G2-related claim, which the Partner acknowledged and said it was working with G2 to address.

Overall, the core product tested well and was considered launch-ready, with the remaining editor and workflow limitations representing areas for improvement rather than deal-breaking concerns; these observations reflect the version available during our testing period and may not represent the product's current state.

Hi Kim, thank you so much for the detailed testing and thoughtful feedback. We really appreciate the time and rigor you put into this review, and it's great to hear that the core product tested well overall.

We're already acting on the points you raised, and we'll keep working on the editor and workflow improvements you flagged. Thanks again for helping us make Mailmunch better.

Rich features, but the form builder needs love

I’ve been testing Mailmunch.
The features are incredibly rich, even on the lowest tier, but man, the onboarding felt clunky. And the form builder? Far from good enough.

You basically only get two choices:
1. Stack layout: Everything stacks straight down, field by field.
2. Grid layout: Fields sit side-by-side until the row runs out of space.

And here is where the logic completely breaks.

If you have an email field and add a simple privacy checkbox, the submit button automatically gets pushed down to a new row. Why? Because the system locks the button to only sit next to a field when there is exactly one field in that row. The moment you add the consent checkbox, it counts as a second field.

The result? The button jumps down, and the layout looks messy.

I brought this up to the founder, but he didn’t seem very open-minded. Instead of listening and improving, he just tried to justify why it was built that way.

It’s a shame, because the platform has a lot of potential.
The support response time is great, and I have almost everything I need.

But to make this a killer product, they need to fix that form builder. Give us access to a public roadmap and a clear bug reporting system.

I would also love to see AI implemented to speed up the setup, especially for the automation part. Also be aware of data privacy🚨, as founder has access to your dashboard.

Fix the form builder, and this easily earns a strong 4 tacos.
Bring in AI and MCP integration, and it’s a solid 5 tacos from me.

Thanks for the detailed write-up. This is the kind of feedback that's actually useful to us.

On the form builder, you've got the behavior right. The submit button currently sits inline only when a row has a single field, so adding a consent checkbox moves it to the next row. That works well for most layouts, but it's a fair point that email + consent + button on one line is a common pattern, and...
